Welcome to The Electric Current Rundown podcast, episode number 74.

And I’m your host, Phil Defiance, and I’ll always say that I’m here to encourage the spread of intriguing knowledge that could spark fires in the minds of those seeking inspiration and truly improving the world.

And what I’m gonna be talking about in this episode includes, based on a list of things that I could talk about, and this one is some Scripture from the Holy Bible.

And then I’m gonna talk about a topic from my girlfriend, which is my childhood experiences in the mid-sized town of Newmarket, Ontario.

And I mean, okay, I respect freedom.

I mean, if you’re an atheist or maybe you’re a Muslim or some other religion, I mean, I guess you don’t want to hear this, but like, I mean, the fact of the matter is that in North America, Christianity is the majority.

So for my Christian listeners, you should be reading the Bible, so why not give you a little bit of Scripture?

And if you’re not a Christian, even an atheist, well, sorry, I am, and you got to respect my freedom, too, and so if you are not into the Bible because you’re an atheist or you follow another religion, then just skip this part of this episode.

But I mean, for my fellow Christians, I’m gonna read a bit of the Bible.

I’m gonna highlight Jesus’ Scriptures.

So I’m gonna go right into the Book of Matthew, really.

On Chapter 20, The Vineyard and the Laborers.

That was the title of the page.

And so, okay.

Yes, so I’m gonna say this.

Well, actually, you know what?

I just realized I can’t do an ad or a break in the middle of reading the Bible because that just goes against Jesus’ teaching.

So I’m gonna just do an ad, a little quick break before I do that.

So here it goes.

Plain bold clothing lived life to the fullest.

What happened to the last time you went to a party?

Well, on a great adventure, you’ll be the life of the party with clothing like our authentic Plain Goose items.

You’ll get exuberant signs you’ll need.

That’s plain like airplane.

But okay, so now to read from the Bible, I’m gonna go off from where I said I would.

And I’m gonna, I mean, obviously the Bible’s Old English, so I’m gonna translate it into New English.

So I mean, for those that say like, oh, he’s, he’s not reading from a Bible, I know.

It’s because I’m using modern English.

I’m just like switching it.

This is what I do too.

I mean, me and my girlfriend have been reading the Bible together and I read it out loud for her.

And so I’m basically doing the exact same thing because I mean, it’s hard to understand Old English, even me.

I have troubles understanding it.

So this is what I do when me and her read it.

So now I’m doing it for you too.

I mean, this one episode, I’m not going to, although I mean, I as a Christian, I’d love to do this all the time.

But really, I mean, I am a Christian and I love God.

But I mean, I’m not going to make my whole show about reading the Bible.

But I mean, I do encourage you other than, I mean, as if you’re a Christian, then I encourage you to read the Bible to not just hearing me out.

I mean, I hope as a Christian, if you’re a Christian, you should listen to this.

And if, if I mean, as long, I mean, regardless, like I hope you read the Bible in your personal time, because I’m not going to be doing this frequently.

This is a one time thing right here.

But like, I mean, you, as a Christian, should be reading the Bible sometimes yourself, because it brings you closer to God.

And that’s why I thought it was a good idea when I saw it being highlighted as a good idea.

But okay, okay.

So I’m going to read.

So it continued in the story.

I mean, the like scripture of Jesus’ life and it continued like this at this point in his life.

And it said, For the kingdom of heaven is like to a man that is a householder, which went out early in the morning to hire laborers.

Jesus was saying this as a metaphor to hire laborers into his vineyard.

And when he agreed with the laborers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard.

This is a metaphor that Jesus was emphasizing to give you a better understanding of how to get closer to God and him.

And so it continued.

And that man went out about the third hour and saw others standing idle in the marketplace.

And he said to them, you should also go into the vineyard and whoever is right, I will give you.

Obviously, he was talking about money.

Um, and so they went their way again.

That man went out about the sixth and the ninth hour, and he did likewise as was agreed upon.

And I mean, on around the eleventh hour, he went out and found others standing idle, and said to them, why do you stand there idle, like all day long?

And they said to him, because no man has hired us.

And so he said to them, go also into the vineyard, and whatever is right, you will receive.

So when evening came, the Lord of the vineyard said to his steward, call the laborers, and give them their money, beginning from the last till the first laborer.

And when they came, those that were hired, when they came around the eleventh hour, they received a penny each, which was, I mean, you know, inflation, a penny was worth some money back then, right?

But okay, and when they received it, they murmured, I mean, they argued against the good man of the house.

They had an argument, and they said, these, I mean, those last people that were hired last, that you brought in the last hour, and you have made them equal to us.

So basically, the people that were working for several hours were getting paid the exact same amount as the people that came in the last hour of work.

And they were arguing about that.

And they bore, they, they bared the burden and the heat of the day, the people that were working all day long.

And so the man that owned the vineyard answered them and said, Friend, I do you no wrong.

Did didn’t you agree with me for appending for your whole day of work?

So take that is yours and go your way.

And I will give you this last amount even to you.

Is it not lawful for me to do that?

I will do, I mean, to do what I will do with my own money.

Is it not lawful for me to make my own decisions with my money?

He was saying.

Is your eye evil?

Because I am good.

So the last shall be first, he was saying.

And the first shall be last, for many will be called, but few will be chosen.

Remember, Jesus was using this as a metaphor.

And Jesus, after he said that, was going to Jerusalem, and he took the 12 disciples.

But you know what?

I mean, I don’t got a lot of time.

I mean, this episode is getting closer to done.

I think that was about it for my reading.

But, okay, I mean, you got to understand that Jesus spoke in metaphors.

And a lot of Christians don’t really read the Bible.

They just try to be good in general, and I understand that.

But like, I mean, since you may be a Christian like that, that doesn’t really read the Bible, or if you have, I mean, maybe you need a reminder about such matters.

So like, just keep in mind what Jesus was really emphasizing with that metaphorical speech right there was that.

I mean, and actually, I have a talent for this, like understanding what Jesus really meant.

But I mean, okay, I’ll tell you.

So what he was saying was that like, I mean, when you die and you want to go to heaven, like you got to understand that regardless of the fact, I mean, in that one, in that one, because I mean, I just picked a random part of the Bible.

I didn’t really like really try to find something that was perfect, but that was a random part of the scriptures of Jesus Christ.

But I’ll tell you, I mean, okay, well, since I read that one right there, I’ll tell you what he was talking about in that context.

And that was the fact that he was like saying, like, I mean, even if, and some Christians might dislike that kind of viewpoint, because I’ve heard Christians act like this, like, oh, they’re like, oh, if you want to go to heaven, because so few people go to heaven and most people go to hell, like there’s Christians that literally view it that way.

And they’re like, oh, the only way you go to heaven is if you’re good, like, your entire life.

And if you are not that way, then odds are you’re more than likely to go to hell.

But like, I mean, that scripture right there shows that to be untrue.

Those were Jesus’ words.

So maybe, you know, like, I felt like I’ve been guided by the Lord a lot in my life and I’ll, I’m not going to explain why I say that, but I have plenty of examples in my memory.

I just don’t have the time to reference them, but I guarantee you, I know that to be true.

He saved my life more than once.

I mean, him and his father, both of them.

And like, there’s so many other things, but I just simply don’t have the time to explain that.

I’ll just say this though.

It feels like God guided me to that Scripture.

Maybe to give you a reminder that, I mean, think of that metaphor was an explanation to let you know that even if you weren’t that great throughout your entire life, but even though you ended up becoming better and a good person later in life, if you turned to God later in life and you were authentic about it and you were really good, not just generally good, but really good, or, I mean, that includes people that have been good their whole life, like, oh, you’ve been good, but were you really that good?

That’s a fact too, but regardless, I mean, even if you start turning to God later in life, to God and Jesus Christ, you’ll be accepted.

You’ll be paid the same thing.

And what’s that?

What’s the payment?

Jesus was talking about payment from the eyes of the Lord, him and his father.

He was talking about heaven.

So, I mean, yeah, some people may think like, oh, I’ve been good my entire life.

How does this man, who was only good for 20 years of his life, while me, I’ve been good for 80, how does that man that was only good for 20, how does he get into heaven and me, I got into heaven after 80 years?

Wrong, wrong thinking, because even the man that was good for only 20 still deserves to get into heaven, because remember, Jesus died for our sins.

Yeah, as I said, some Christians disagree with that, but it’s a matter of fact.

That’s why he let himself be the Lamb of God.

But okay, so now I’m going to switch topics as I finish off this episode, and it is, as I’ve been doing lately, a bit longer than I had hoped.

But I’m trying to finish off this episode quick, so okay, on this, I mean, as I finish it off, I’m going to just go on this quick break.

And on this quick break, I’m going to say, we all love good workouts, look good wearing a quality gym shirt from plainbowl.com.

Your workouts will be less effort since you’ll feel great, leading to less time spent and you’ll see less risks.

You’ll be that guy everyone wants to befriend.

So, to stand out just like that with gym clothing that just looks just right, go to plainbowl.com.

That’s plain like airplane, plainbowl.com.

But okay, to finish off on this episode, I’m going to talk about what I mentioned in the start of the episode, and that is a topic from my girlfriend, about my childhood experiences in the mid-sized town of Newmarket, Ontario.

Yes, I mean, okay, so I’m just going to give you a little bit of it, and then I’m going to talk more about it in the next episode.

And so, I mean, yeah, I mean, in between like seven years old to like, I don’t know, around 15, I was living in a mid-sized town.

I mean, when I moved there from Toronto, actually, I was probably eight years old.

Yeah, but either way, when I moved there from Toronto, where I was at before, it was a pretty small town, but it grew pretty quickly.

Today, it’s a bigger sized town, really.

But, I mean, it went from a small town to a mid-sized town through the time that I was there, and either way, the winters there were ridiculous, extreme.

I mean, in America, if you’re one of my US listeners or audience members, it’s a joke, right?

In America, like, the igloo people, that’s why you call Canadians, right?

Like you live in an igloo.

It’s okay.

I could take a joke.

It’s fine with me.

But I mean, yeah, this is where you guys get it from.

I mean, in America, you guys say that because, yeah, there’s parts of Canada there, ridiculously cold.

And yeah, I’ve experienced that.

And for my fellow Canadians, I mean, yeah, I mean, you know this stuff, especially up north.

But okay.

I mean, as a Trontonian, I feel like I’m in a gray area between the two countries anyway.

But that’s a side topic.

And regardless, I mean, okay.

So those winters in Newmarket were ridiculous.

On average, there were at least 30 days of the winter that were minus 30 or minus 25, which is almost the same thing.

Like it was ridiculously cold.

And it really made me a stronger man because, I mean, it made me to be able to withstand some seriously cold temperatures.

I mean, I’m in Toronto now and Toronto is a bit warmer than Newmarket.

Oh, yeah, certainly.

So like, I mean, my girlfriend actually like says things like, Oh, why do you go out there with like, like, not that much clothing, like, especially at the start of the winter?

And I’m like, it’s because I tell her, it’s because I’m from Newmarket.

Like, it’s that experience I had when I was younger.

Like, it trained me for this stuff.

But okay, anyway, I’m going to continue on that topic and that general story on my next episode because this episode is not done.

So, well, okay, that’s the end of Episode 74 of The Electric Current Rundown with me, your host, Phil Defiance, and I’ll always say that I’m here to encourage the spread of intriguing knowledge that can spark fires in the minds of those seeking inspiration and truly improving the world.

And till next time, have a good one!
