Welcome to The Electric Current Rundown podcast episode number 75.
And now, me host Phil Defiance, and I’ll always say that I’m here to encourage the spread of intriguing knowledge that could spark fires in the minds of those seeking inspiration and truly improving the world.
And what I’m going to be talking about in this episode includes a continuation of where I left off on the topic from my girlfriend about my childhood experiences in the mid-sized town of Newmarket, Ontario.
And then I’m going to talk about special programming notes during my milestone 75th episode right here.
And then I’m going to talk about South Carolina man that was to be executed in the USA by a firing squad.
So, okay, I’m going to start off on that topic where I continue on where I left off on that topic for my girlfriend about my childhood experiences in the mid-sized town of New Market on Stereo.
So, yes, I mean, it really made me into a man that like just got stronger when it came to the cold air, like living life in Canada in general, I mean, continued on where I left off anyway.
And, yeah, that has really come in handy in general.
I mean, yeah, and if you’re in America, like you can relate if you live in New England or Wisconsin or even like areas of New York, like upstate, like Buffalo areas and things like that, you know, even close to Albany, right?
Or Michigan, a few areas, right?
You know, and I mean, if you’re a Canadian, yeah, all across, all across.
I mean, the more north, the more north you go, the worse it gets.
And I know because in New Market, that’s just how it is.
But even here in Toronto, I mean, it really made things easier for me living here, going back to Toronto from where I generally lived, like through my younger years, like youngest years to when I went to New Market, to when I came back to Toronto.
But actually, I actually was born in Switzerland.
And then I came to Canada at like two and a half years old, but that’s like so like small amounts of a time.
So that’s why I reference like Toronto more so than Switzerland.
But of course, I mean, one day I knew I’d eventually admit, I mean, mention that, you know?
So yeah, I mean, I might as well say it right now because I gotta be real.
I’m not a fake person, but yeah, that’s a matter of fact too.
But either way, I mean, I ended up moving to New Market when I was like eight years old or so.
And I lived there till like 16.
So I mean, that really made me stronger because I mean, after I came back to Toronto, like it made me to be able to withstand that kind of cold air.
And that’s actually a beautiful experience because it made me a stronger man when it comes to that kind of cold air.
But okay, so I’m gonna continue on that topic and switch topics as I finish off this quick episode.
But okay, I’m gonna do that after this quick break.
So on this break, I’m gonna say, at plainbowl.com, we have an expanding catalog of high quality clothes and consumer goods.
If you want really cool looking clothes or consumer goods at low prices, check us out.
Go to plainbowl.com.
That’s Plain like Airplane, plainbowl.com.
And by the time that I released this episode, surely my edits on PlainBowl will be even better and like the website will be better.
And soon, I mean, like that data content will be like fully up to date.
Either way, I mean, support my show, like maybe start buying some things now, or if not, then in a few weeks, if you want to wait till everything is up to date.
But you’ll, I mean, if you’ve gone to my website, you’ll definitely have noticed that it’s a lot faster, it’s quick, quick, quick.
And that’s what I did, all this work that I’ve been doing.
But okay, okay, let me finish off on the topic of new market.
Yes, it really built me into a stronger man.
And because of that, I’ve been able to work in like freezers in warehouses, I did that for like three, four years in my life.
I probably wouldn’t have done that if it wasn’t for my experience in the new market.
I mean, I’m a summer baby, I love the heat, literally, I love it.
I mean, most people can’t even stand the type of temperatures I love.
I mean, when it’s like plus 38 with the humidity here in Toronto, which actually does happen.
And you Americans that think that it’s only cold in Canada, well, you’re wrong.
Come to Toronto in the summer time and sweat your ass off, because that’s what you’re going to do if you come here.
I mean, if you haven’t, because I know there’s a lot of Americans that have been in Toronto.
I mean, I see them, especially in the summertime with a plate.
But either way, I mean, if you haven’t come, go ahead and check it out.
We don’t just live in igloos, especially in Toronto.
We got some hot summer here.
And yeah, there’s a lot of Canadians that tell me things like, Oh, I can’t stand it.
You know what?
There’s, I’m sure there’s plenty of Americas that can’t stand it.
Like the Americans that live in the Northern States, they can’t stand it when it gets way too hot.
Well, I’m not one of those people.
I love it when it’s beautifully hot.
That’s what I call it.
Beautifully hot.
When it’s like 35 degrees with that humidity, or it’s 40 degrees.
And I’m talking Celsius.
Okay.
I mean, Canadians understand that, but in America, that means like 100, 110, all right?
Fahrenheit.
Yes.
That’s what I like.
That’s me because I’m a summer baby.
But still I can tolerate the cold temperatures and that’s because of the new market.
And another thing is that, well, I mean, I remember one time when I was in new market area, I remember seeing Northern Lights, which is a very, very rare thing.
I only saw it one time, actually.
And that was actually the inspiration for one of my girlfriend that suggested that I talk about it.
And it was actually beautiful.
It’s actually ridiculous.
Like you wouldn’t expect that South from the North Pole to get Aurora Borealis, also known as Northern Lights.
It was quite gorgeous.
Something that I only saw once in my entire life, like in person, like that.
Probably like three times.
But the one day, it was really, really like striking.
The other two times, it was like a hint.
But like that one day, it was like, wow, it was like something straight out of a photo or a video.
Like I’ll never forget that.
So no wonder she told me to talk about that, because it literally is a beautiful thing.
And I mean, you know, my girlfriend’s a beautiful woman and she likes beautiful things.
So I could see why she would suggest that I talk about that too.
And yeah, I mean, yeah, and that’s intriguing, right?
To to think about it, that a place as far south as New Market, which is just south of Ottawa, like south of Ottawa, like in between Ottawa and Toronto.
So, I mean, if you’re like an American or maybe you’re in Alberta, you don’t really know about New Market.
Well, I’ll just give you those references.
It’s in between Toronto and Ottawa.
So, that gives you a better idea of where it’s at.
Regardless, the thing is, like, that’s pretty south of the North Pole, right?
And you wouldn’t imagine those northern lights coming down that south.
And it’s true.
I mean, in my experience, like about eight years that I lived there, that was only one time that I saw it like that.
It’s not a common event, and it’s something that I will never forget.
Something that I’ll always remember seeing, as long as I reference my memory from that point.
Because it was gorgeous, literally, to see it in person.
But okay, so now I’m going to finish off on this episode.
Oh, actually, well, I got two more things to talk about.
I mean, okay.
Okay, I mean, so I got a special programming note during my Milestone 75th episode.
And that is, well, I mean, as I’ve been making more and more episodes, I have had some subtle changes in my approach on how I do my show.
And I’m not going to explain exact details, but I have improved.
And if you’ve seen my earlier episodes and compare them to these newer ones, I mean, you probably can’t put your foot on it or finger on it, but you know that there’s something that’s changed a little bit.
And that’s what I’m referencing with that.
And yes, I mean, in general, over time, I’m improving my strategies.
And actually, one thing that I’m about to do after this point right here, because I record my episodes in batches of five episodes each.
So on my next batch of episodes, I’m going to start adding like rehashing a topic from one of my like most of most like popular episodes, like the rare ones that really spiked up because I saw like some episodes like really get huge numbers in comparison to the episodes.
I get a little bit less numbers.
So I’m talking about the ones that got really like bigger numbers.
When it comes to those ones, I’m going to rehash some of the subjects from those and bring them back in some of my newer episodes like like one every batch of five.
I’m going to rehash like one topic from one of those really popular episodes.
That’s what I’m going to do.
And yeah, in general, I’m just changing my approaches over time and I have other plans and I’m not going to incorporate those yet.
But either way, as you have seen over time, I’ve improved and I’m improving in general.
And that’s one thing that I’m going to do.
But OK, OK, now I’m going to finish off the episode.
I mean, on this topic of a South Carolina man to be executed or actually, I’ll have to double check on that.
I’ll give you a little bit of an update on the next episode.
But he either was set to be executed or I guess he was executed in the USA by a firing squad.
And I mean, the man deserved it.
There was he he pled guilty to it, too.
He like literally brutally murdered his girlfriend and like tried to murder her parents or there was just like the man was literally psychotic.
I think he tried to kill his girlfriend’s parents or maybe his own parents.
It was something along those lines.
I’ll even double check on that.
But I mean, OK, I’ll reference that.
I’ll confirm or or adjust the story line.
Just I mean, on the next episode, I don’t want to like like mess up this recording.
So I’ll just say that it’s one or the other.
But either way, that sounds extremely psychotic.
So he definitely deserved the death penalty.
And by the way, I mean, OK, one other thing that I’ll say is that, I mean, it’s actually interesting because, I mean, as a Canadian, I thought that the United States always had a death penalty.
But it turns out that up till 78, the United States had paused its death penalty abilities like the Supreme Court made it illegal like decades before.
And so there was a large gap where nobody was being executed by the US government.
But by the year 78, suddenly they reallowed it.
And ever since then, death penalties have been happening.
But OK, so I’m going to continue on on that topic on my next episode.
Either way, well, that’s the end of this episode, episode 75 with me, your host, Phil Defiance of The Electric Current Rundown.
And I’ll always say that I’m here to encourage this spread of intriguing knowledge that can spark fires in the minds of those seeking inspiration and truly improving the world.
Well, till next time, have a good one.
