Welcome to Electric Current Rundown podcast episode number 85.
And I’m your host, Phil Defiance, and I’ll always say I’m here to encourage the spread of intriguing knowledge that can spark fires in the minds of those seeking inspiration and truly improving the world.
And what I’m going to be talking about in this episode includes an addition to the topic that I was talking about in the last couple of episodes from my girlfriend on the topic of horror books, just a short edition.
And then I’m going to be talking about a continuation of where I left off on the last episode based on an article I read that was titled Want to Reduce Soreness After a Workout Make Time for This Four Step Routine.
Then I’m going to talk about toxic receipts, plastic, and even sunscreens and related topics, especially about plastics and toxicity and things related to that.
And then I’m going to finish off the episode with the topic being Millie Bobby Brown’s face was never any of our business, and that was based on an article I read.
So okay, to give a short and quick addition to the topic of horror books, a topic for my girlfriend.
So one thing I wanted to add was that Dracula was a legendary movie and story that was even in written form.
Like you can buy like the novel, like the brand Stoker edition.
In general, just Dracula.
And I mean, that was a legendary one.
Then you can also watch a movie in general.
I mean, that was also legendary and really shockingly horrific generally.
I mean, there may be some movies that are slightly more horrific, but definitely was horrific in its own right.
But and I also want to say that Dracula in general, like was based on Vlad the Impaler, a man from around Romania, and he was like someone that was around like about 600 years ago, and he was just killing off so many people, and he was drinking their blood.
I mean, he wasn’t a real vampire, but he was close enough.
I mean, he wasn’t immortal, but he was literally drinking people’s blood and torturing them.
I mean, that’s where all that story comes from.
The story of vampires and Dracula, the most famous one, who actually was a real person known as Vlad the Impaler.
And if you want to do more research about that, then go ahead.
But okay, so now to continue on where I left off on the last episode, I’m going to talk about this, based on an article I read that was titled, Want to Reduce Soreness After a Workout, Make Time for This Four-Step Routine.
And in the last episode, I gave you two of those four steps, and now I’m going to give the other two.
So, I mean, just to give a quick reference, I’m not going to re-explain what I said, but just as a quick reference, the first one was cool down for, I mean, 10 to 15 minutes, which helps prevent dizziness and fatigue, I mean, cooling down, like I was explaining in the last episode, which is a little bit more detailed than what it sounds like.
So watch the last episode for those details, if you didn’t see it already.
And then the other one, like, of those first two was, try rolling out your muscles with a foam roller, it might feel good.
So, I mean, if you want to really get an elaboration on those first two points, watch the last episode.
But, okay, I mean, especially if you haven’t, if you haven’t already.
But, okay, the other two of this four-step routine that will reduce soreness after a workout, based on information from an Olympic athlete, female athlete.
The third one of the four-step post-workout routine to help reduce soreness after a workout is stretching your muscles to improve flexibility and prevent injury.
And, I mean, a lot of people know about this, but not everyone.
And a lot of people just skip the stretch.
And actually, that could be to your peril.
I mean, that’s not just before workouts.
Yes, even after workouts.
And, I mean, the point about stretching, though, is another factor which was pointed out in the article, which made a lot of sense to me, actually.
I mean, I like if you go back several episodes, like early on when I started this podcast, I did mention that I used to work like years back in the warehouse industry.
And I’ve even mentioned that I used to go to the gym at a point in my past as well.
And I never thought about this.
So, actually, when I read this article, I was like, wow, that makes a huge amount of sense.
Because what’s, I mean, so the information, as I just mentioned recently, was from an Olympic athlete that was a female.
So the information that was pointed out by her, because her thoughts were the source of the article, she was pointing out that when you’re doing stretches, don’t overdo it.
Because some people actually, she was pointing this out because she’s aware, and it makes sense, some people do things wrong.
And so, it makes sense, if you’re doing stretches, don’t stretch to the point where it starts feeling painful.
Because when you do that, then you’re overdoing it, and then now you’re just defeating the positive effects related to the stretching.
I mean, when you’re stretching before workouts or after, don’t overdo it.
Don’t stretch to the point where it starts getting painful, because then you’re going to defeat the purpose, and it’s actually going to probably have negative effects.
I mean, the purpose of the stretching is to give you positive effects, it’s not negative effects.
So if it starts getting painful, stop, stop.
Don’t do the stretches if they’re starting to get painful.
Don’t overdo it, because then you’re going to mess things up.
But just keep in mind, don’t just stretch before workouts, stretch after the workout too, because that will help you reduce soreness after a workout.
And generally, I mean, I didn’t even elaborate the last episode, so I’ll elaborate on it right here.
What I mean, because from the perspective of the article, what’s meant here about reducing soreness after a workout isn’t just like the next few hours after a workout or the next day, because like a lot of people that do workouts, including myself in the past, I do remember, especially after an intense workout, like the soreness can last a few days is true.
I mean, it’s a matter of fact, and anyone that does like intense workouts, like serious workouts knows that if you really like do some serious workouts, it could last like three, four days.
So like, I mean, to reduce, I mean, it makes a lot of sense.
Do you really want to feel like really, really sore for three, four days?
Of course not.
It’s a lot better if you can reduce that soreness.
So that’s the whole point right here.
Of this four step post-workout routine to reduce that soreness after workouts.
Okay, so I’m going to finish off on that topic real quick after this quick break and then switch topics.
Okay, so on this break, I’m going to say everybody likes really good designs, as well as knowing their online order will come quickly.
Go to plainbowl.com to get the designs you desire.
Your order will come quick like you expect.
And while you want quick delivery, you’ll have patience for your order because when it does come, you’re going to have the kind of design you’ll love.
It will make you stand out and people will notice and you’ll love that.
Go to plainbowl.com.
That’s plain like airplane, plainbowl.com.
But, okay, so then there’s the fourth step in the four step routine that you should be doing to reduce soreness, like I was just explaining after our workout.
And the fourth step is to eat protein to build new muscle fibers.
And, well, it’s a female Olympian that was a source of all this information.
So, I mean, she was emphasizing like, oh, it doesn’t have to be meat.
She was saying like, you know, like lentils.
Well, okay, I like lentils personally, too.
But like she was mentioned, I mean, she was especially emphasizing not, it doesn’t have to be meat.
It could be things like lentils and then other things.
She gave a list, including like one thing that I totally would never eat tofu.
But there was a list that she gave.
I guess beans was a part of it, too.
Obviously, beans have some protein, too.
But like, I mean, I’m a guy and I’m not going vegan or vegetarian.
So when I think about protein, I think about meat.
So yeah, but it changes on, right?
And there’s protein bars.
So I mean, like, I mean, everybody is a little different, though, at the same time.
I mean, if you’re a vegan or a vegetarian, well, I mean, I believe in freedom.
So if that’s what you’re like, I mean, whether you’re a guy or a girl, because some guys that are like into the gym, they actually are vegan or vegetarian.
And if you’re that type of man, then, well, that’s the way that you are.
And that’s fine.
But like, I mean, the point is that because I mean, there’s some serious, even big athletes out there that are like that.
I mean, from what I’ve heard.
So I mean, okay, that’s, that’s cool.
But regardless, the point is that you got to have protein after your workouts.
I mean, whatever your source of protein, you got to have that protein because it helps build muscle fiber.
And that’s the whole point of the workouts.
I mean, to build muscle fiber, I mean, that’s how you get stronger muscles.
So I mean, you got to do that.
That’s essential.
But okay, and there was actually a bonus point.
And this one, well, actually, you know what?
I’m not even going to say it, because, well, okay, fine, I’ll say it.
I mean, if you’re a girl and you go to the gym, because this is more for women right here.
And of course, I mean, coming from a female Olympian.
I mean, if you’re a girl and you go to the gym, this could be something that could be nice, because she was pointing out, but drying, relaxing bath with like Epsom salts and like things like that.
So I mean, yeah, if you’re a girl, especially, yeah, why not?
I mean, if you go to the gym, why not do that too?
But remember, the four main points were cooling down for 10 to 15 minutes to prevent dizziness and fatigue.
Try rolling out your muscles with a foam roller.
It might feel good.
If it feels good, then good.
And stretching muscles to improve flexibility and preventing injury.
And the fourth main one was eating protein to build new muscle fibers.
And if you’re a woman, especially, do a nice bath after a workout.
But okay, now I’m going to switch topics.
And in this next topic, I’m going to talk about toxic receipts, plastic and even sunscreens.
Well, I mean, the thing is that receipts, I mean, it’s crazy because they put plastic like talk.
I mean, okay, let me just break it down here.
So the fact of the matter is that a lot of plastic that they’re using these, like, I mean, for the last several decades, really, has been toxic, has been proven to be that way.
I mean, you see like products out there, like all over the place nowadays, like that say, like they advertise their BPA free.
And that was like one of the main things that were really bad for you from, I mean, from plastics.
Sorry.
Well, okay.
Yeah, I mean, the thing is that plastic actually was like engineered in a way that actually is a form of synthetic estrogen.
It’s actually contributing to the downfall of the sperm numbers amongst men.
I mean, it’s not the only factor, but it’s a strong contributing factor.
And I mean, it’s actually funny because these companies are saying that their plastic is BPA free.
Well, what did they replace it with?
Well, a lot of the time, they replace it with another kind of plastic that is also a synthetic form of estrogen.
I mean, they could actually make plastics that are not synthetic estrogen.
And it’s not just the synthetic estrogen element, but that certainly is a serious problem.
And it’s not just bad for men.
It’s also bad for women.
It also has been showing to give women cancers, because they shouldn’t be having this extra estrogen.
It’s too much for them.
It’s like an overload of the female hormone.
So it’s bad for, I mean, this synthetic estrogen found in these kinds of plastics, all sorts of plastics, is bad for both men and women.
And like, I mean, the point, I mean, another thing is that, like, I mean, generally, it’s not just that, though.
I mean, just plastic in general is toxic in many ways.
I mean, more than just that.
But yeah, I mean, one of the big ones is that synthetic estrogen factor.
And if you don’t really know much about that, go ahead and do some research on it.
There’s plenty of information on the Internet about it.
But like, I mean, that’s funny because, like, they put in all sorts of stuff, and that includes even your receipts that you buy at stores.
Like, I mean, the receipts they give you.
And like, I mean, they don’t have to do that.
They could just give you, like, normal paper.
But no, they want to give you receipts that are heavily induced with this, like, toxic form of plastic, which actually is even worse than some other forms of plastic.
But like, I mean, that’s just insane.
It’s like they’re literally trying to poison you, like, every chance they can get.
And I mean, we live here in North America.
We live in a capitalist society.
So like, I mean, we got money.
We got more money than most of the world.
And we buy things.
I mean, that’s just the way we are.
We are a consumer society.
So, I mean, receipts are just floating around like everywhere because people are just buying and buying, right?
So, I mean, just think about that.
And you know what?
Ever since I first heard about that, and that was around the year 2012 or something around then, ever since then, I’ve been like whenever like a store clerk offers me a receipt, especially if it’s for a cheap item like a coffee or like a burger or something cheap, I always say, hey, man, just keep the receipt.
I don’t need it.
That’s what I do.
But regardless, I mean, it’s crazy that they literally are doing that kind of thing, even with a receipt.
It makes me even think because over here in Canada, because I know in America, you guys don’t got plastic money like we do over here in Canada.
But so if you’ve been in America your whole life and you’ve never even been to Canada, you probably don’t even know about this.
But over here in Canada, like about eight years ago, maybe 10 years ago, we switched our money from cotton-based like you guys got over there in the United States.
Over here, we got plastic money like it’s fully plastic and it makes me think too.
Like, I mean, the paper money as you call it paper, I mean, as a metaphor, our plastic money really makes me think, oh no, I’m like every time I handle money, I’m being exposed to this stuff.
I mean, it sounds crazy, but it’s just it’s crazy what they’re doing.
But regardless, on top of that, there’s like sunscreens and other things.
But I’m going to finish off on that topic right after this quick break.
So on this quick break, I’m going to say riding a motorcycle like thunder on the highway is like a dream.
Gripping handlebars, cool wind, gorgeous views.
What life’s about is soul food.
Look good while doing it.
Get great motorbike clothing at planebull.com.
That’s playing like airplane.
planebull.com.
But OK, to finish off on that topic and then switch topics as I get closer to finishing off the episode.
Other things I wanted to say on this general train of thought, is about, like, I mean, for one, there’s sunscreens.
Sunscreens are also bad for you.
And they, I mean, it’s connected because, like, they got synthetic chemicals inside of it, which are similar to plastic.
So, I mean, that’s where the connection is, in this train of thought right here.
And yeah, I mean, it’s funny, too, because they literally are telling you things like, oh, the sunlight’s so bad for you.
The sunlight can give you cancer.
But then, oh, what are you going to do?
Are you going to put that sunscreen on?
Because that’s what they’re telling you to do.
Oh, great.
Really?
Because that sunscreen that they’re telling you is good for you?
Oh, because it’s preventing you from catching cancer from the sun?
Turns out that that sunscreen gives people cancer and is, like, just generally bad for people.
Because, you know, your skin is an organ, too.
Yeah, you think, when you think organs, you’re thinking about your liver, your heart, your pancreas, I don’t know, your stomach, right?
Well, guess what?
Your skin is an organ as well.
It’s funny.
It kind of does sound funny, especially if you’re not aware of that.
But it’s actually an organ too, and it absorbs like chemicals that you put on it.
And so, well, if you put like this toxic concoction that they got for you in the sunscreens, guess what?
You’re putting something that you really shouldn’t be putting on yourself.
Like avoid that stuff.
Like do more research in that.
I mean, sometimes I give you links, but like this time, I’m giving you a few topics that are related to each other.
And like I’d have to give you like five, eight links or something.
Like instead, I’m telling you to do your own research instead.
I mean, if you really want to verify this information, you can find it.
And these are actual facts.
I mean, if you if you’re not aware of some of these things and you should look into them, if you’re not aware, because this is another one, a big one.
Sunscreen, just don’t use it.
I mean, if you want to live a long life and you want to be healthy, don’t use sunscreen.
Yeah, the sunlight is better for you than sunscreen.
I mean, oh, sunlight can give you cancer.
Yeah, well, then don’t go relax in the sun for several hours.
Like, I don’t know, like go inside a little bit more or something.
If you’re worried about the sunlight instead of using sunscreens.
Okay.
But I mean, because when it comes to sunscreen, of course, like a couple of the worst chemicals inside of it, amongst others, include oxy-bone-zone and avov-en-zone.
But either way, like, that’s all I have to say.
I mean, plastic, synthetic chemicals and all these things, especially toxic receipts, like it’s like crazy, like where things have gotten in our society.
It really is.
And I mean, I wish like maybe in the next few years, like because things have been starting to move a little bit better, like non-BPA type stuff.
So like, I mean, as long as people keep waking up, maybe we as a society can move better, like in these ways, like move even in a better direction regarding these things.
Like, I mean, it’s a good thing that they started doing non-BPA, but they got to improve even further.
But okay, well, now I’m going to talk about one last topic before I end this episode.
So this last topic is based on our article I read, and it was an article titled, Millie Bobby Brown’s Face Was Never Any of Our Business.
And that was based on our article I read about how there was like, I mean, there’s a celebrity out there whose name is Millie Bobby Brown, and like they were, like apparently, a lot of writers out there were commentating that she looks older now, and like the writer of the article was like saying, oh, but you know, I’m okay.
She, the writer was saying, like, it’s like crazy that like, celebrity writers were like making comments about how she looks older, and like, oh, like her face is nobody’s business.
But you know what?
In some ways, I agreed with the writer, and then in other ways, I disagreed.
Let me elaborate.
Okay.
So first off, I want to say like, celebrity culture is ridiculous.
Like, they’re like literally like obsessing over like extreme youth.
And suddenly, like if a woman looks older than 22 years old, it’s like, oh my god, like, really?
Like, I mean, I agree with the writer on that.
I mean, if a woman looks like she’s like 25, 30, 40, there’s even women out there that are in their 60s that look pretty good.
So, like, I mean, like people that like want to say like, oh, she looks older, like whatever.
I mean, it’s almost like it’s connected to Hollywood’s like, you know, it’s coming out, right?
That Hollywood’s got this pedophile culture.
So, like, oh, is that why they’re so obsessed with women looking so young, like extra young?
So, like, I mean, I agree with the writer on that.
I mean, she wasn’t going at it from that angle, but that’s an addition I had to add to it.
But the point is that, like, it’s ridiculous.
Like, women that look a little bit older or are a little bit older, there’s nothing wrong with that.
And it’s just ridiculous how Hollywood has that kind of obsession.
But the areas where I disagreed with the writer on the whole article was about how she was, like, saying, like, oh, there’s a bullying side about it.
And she, like, really is against bullying.
And you know what?
I personally disagree with the concept of anti-bullying.
I think that, I mean, OK, when it comes to women, though, it’s a little bit of a different story.
But, you know, like, I mean, we live in a culture these days that’s, like, totally against bullying and OK, fine.
I mean, amongst women, I agree with that.
But, like, I mean, because it has expanded to men as well.
And that goes to, like, childhood and things.
I totally disagree with that, because bullying amongst men is a totally different story.
And men need to toughen up, because too many men out there are pansies, to be quite frank.
And men need to go through tough times to make themselves stronger.
So, I mean, I’m against this anti-bullying sentiment that’s going around.
But, like, amongst women, that’s a different story.
But, still, like, I mean, I’m still just generally against a general idea.
And then the woman was talking about, I mean, well, the writer was talking about a couple other angles, including, like, I mean, she was just, like, a very strong feminist.
And, honestly, I’m against feminism.
So, like, but either way, you know what, I kind of forget the other points, because I said a lot in this episode, and it’s actually, like, seven o’clock in the morning right now, so I’m a little tired.
But either way, I mean, the point that I’m really making also, too, is, and that’s one of the reasons why I wanted to talk about this, is that it’s actually funny, because there’s, like, areas out there in this world on certain topics where conservatives and liberals can actually agree with each other, even though they disagree at the same time.
And this, what I was just showing you, is a good example.
But either way, okay, so that’s the end of this episode right here.
That’s episode 85 of The Electric Current Rundown with me, your host, Phil Defiance.
And I’ll always say that I’m here to encourage the spread of intriguing knowledge that can spark fires in the minds of those seeking inspiration and truly improving the world.
And till next time, have a good one!
