Welcome to The Electric Current Rundown podcast episode number 81.
And I’m your host, Phil Defiance, and I’ll always say I’m here to encourage the spread of intriguing knowledge that can spark fires in the minds of those seeking inspiration and truly improving the world.
And what I’m going to be talking about in this episode includes a continuation of where I left off on the topic for my girlfriend about my favorite Disney movies.
And then I’m going to be talking about four ways to build influence at work, no matter your job title, based on an article I read.
So to continue on on the topic for my girlfriend about my favorite Disney movies.
On the last episode, I was talking about Snow White.
And I mean, the animated movie was really good.
But they even did spinoffs.
And one of my favorites was with Julia Roberts.
I think that was made in 2012.
And that was not an animated movie.
It was real life.
And they did a couple other spinoffs.
So those were kind of cool too.
But those two were my favorite versions of it.
Either way, I mean, on top of that, there was a Lion King which was set in the African Sahara.
And yeah, obviously, it included lions.
And lions are like royalty because they’re the king of the jungle.
So it had a really good storyline that I really liked.
And I mean, they even had singing.
And they released a movie when I was around 11 years old.
And I was even singing along with that because I really liked that at that time.
But either way, the storyline was really cool.
And like even the villain was like a unique character in the whole movie.
The way that it played out was really unique.
So if you never seen it before, go ahead and watch it because it definitely is one of my favorites.
Either way, I mean, on top of that, I got to add movies like Bambi.
I mean, that was one of my favorites as a child.
That was a really good one as well.
And then on top of that, I got to add Aladdin, which was set in like Muslim countries.
And it was about a genie.
And it had an intriguing storyline.
And it was made more recently when it comes to, I mean, if you compare it to movies that were made in the 60s or 50s or 70s.
Yeah, that was made in the 90s.
I mean, mid 90s.
And it even had Robin Williams, who’s dead now.
Rest in peace.
But I mean, he did a really good job as a genie.
I mean, that was one of his best movies, actually, I’ll have to say.
And regardless, I mean, that was a really good movie.
The singing, the storyline, I mean, so many different elements.
And I’m gonna continue on on that topic and finish it off and switch topics after this quick break.
So on this quick break, I’m gonna say, at planebold.com, we usually have some sales, so you can save money to be like a goose on a plane on a flight to a great adventure.
Go to planebold.com.
Today that’s plane, like airplane, planebold.com.
But either way, so, I mean, Aladdin was really cool.
I mean, the whole storyline was really beautiful.
It was like a love story, it was, it had a genie, it had a crazy villain named Jafar.
There was even a parrot.
I mean, the whole story was really cool.
And like Aladdin was like a peasant, but then with the help of a genie, he ended up falling in love with a princess.
I mean, the whole thing was just well played, well written and well drawn too.
I mean, it was just beautiful, the whole thing.
And, well, I mean, another movie that I really liked was The Little Mermaid, made in the 80s, like the cartoon animated one.
And it was definitely one of my favorites.
Like the singing was really good.
And other than that, the storyline was really good too.
Also the animation too.
And then I’m pretty sure the movie Hercules, which wasn’t an animated movie, but it was a good movie.
It was like real life.
I’m pretty sure that was Disney too.
And that was with The Rock, made around the year 2012 or something like that.
So I mean, well, at the same time, I mean, maybe it wasn’t a Disney movie.
But either way, that was definitely a good movie.
And the reason why I think it might be a Disney movie, I mean, is because it’s that kind of movie.
It’s the type of movie that they like to make at Disney.
And if I’m wrong, maybe it’s Warner Brothers.
But I think it’s Disney.
Who knows?
Go ahead and check it out.
And if I’m wrong, then watch it anyway, because that was a good movie too.
But okay, that’s my list.
That’s my list of those main movies that I really liked from Disney.
But now I’m going to switch topics to Four Ways to Build Influence at Work No Matter Your Job Title, based on an article I read.
And so, I mean, I’m going to just talk about one of those ways, and I’m going to list the three others on the next episode.
So the one way to build influence at work, no matter your job title that I’m going to highlight right here, is, well, focus on what you can control at your job.
Like be really good at your job.
Because a lot of people out there, I mean, is so true.
I mean, I’ve been at jobs where I was kind of slacking, especially when I was younger.
Well, that’s not the way to be.
I mean, just because you think like, oh, it’s just a paycheck.
Like, what the heck does it matter as long as I get paid?
Well, that’s a wrong attitude.
Because if you’re actually like doing a really good job at your job, then you’re going to have influence at your job.
I mean, next thing you know, you’re going to get promotions.
You’re going to get bigger raises, maybe sometimes even bigger raises than your coworkers.
But keep your mouth shut about that one.
You know, but either way, I mean, just do a really good job.
And even if it doesn’t get you ahead at your current job, just think about it like that.
I mean, be really good at what you do.
And then next thing you know, find a next job and next thing you know, you’re going to get paid even more money because I mean, that’s another thing.
People like switch jobs and they’re not even qualified for the job that they’re doing.
Once they get the next job, if you’re not that good, then next thing you know, you’re going to get fired because you got three months probation.
Most jobs do that.
So I mean, if you’re really accelerating at your current job and you really get it, then next thing you know, maybe you might be sick of this job and then you switch jobs.
And then you’re going to prove yourself to the next job because you know what you’re doing.
You know what you did at the last job.
Either way, I mean, that can build influence and that can be definitely beneficial, like in getting you up the ladder.
But on top of that, I mean, it just shows your management that you’re really worth that money.
It can get you raises.
And I mean, when you go to the next job one day, I mean, some people just stick at the same job.
But I mean, if you’re going to switch jobs, then just get really good at your current job.
And then when you’re at the next job, they’re going to be really impressed.
So I mean, that’s a major point right there.
So just take that to heart, because a lot of people just like, as I was saying just a moment ago, a lot of people feel like, oh, I’ll just do good enough.
But that’s not the right attitude.
I mean, if you really want to accelerate where you’re going in life, just do good at your job, because that’s really going to help you.
Trust me, it’s facts.
I mean, I’m 41 years old.
And if you’re 20, 30, then that’s a major life lesson.
Take that to heart, because I wish I knew that when I was around 28 or so, because that probably would have brought me more forward in life.
But you know what?
Actually, I’m happy that I didn’t do that back then, because then I wouldn’t be doing this now.
I mean, it was my life experiences that brought me here.
But everyone’s different.
And I mean, not everyone’s going to be doing podcasts.
Not everyone’s going to run their own company.
A lot of people just feel comfortable as an employee.
And I mean, as an employee, next thing you know, you end up in management.
Next thing you know, you end up as an executive.
If you really want to climb up that ladder without running your own company or doing things like podcasts, then really do good at your job because it will build influence and it will just help you overall.
And you get what I mean.
But either way, so that’s the end of this episode.
I’m going to finish off on that whole topic with the three other points on the next episode.
So this is the end of episode number 81 of The Electric Current Rundown with me, your host, Phil Defiance.
And I’ll always say I’m here to encourage the spread of intriguing knowledge that could spark fires in the minds of those seeking inspiration and truly improving the world.
And till next time, have a good one.
