Welcome to The Electric Current Rundown podcast episode number 72.

And I’m your host, Phil Defiance, and I’ll always say I’m here to encourage the spread of intriguing knowledge that can spark fires in the minds of those seeking inspiration and truly improving the world.

And what I’m going to be talking about in this episode includes a continuation of where I left off on the topic of how to eat and drink fewer microplastics.

And I’m going to talk about how to finally stick with the fitness habit.

So to continue on where I left off on the topic of how to eat and drink fewer microplastics.

I mean, if you think about it, if you compare water bottles, which I’ve mentioned at the last episode, to the next two things that I’m going to point out, 250,000 particles per water bottle.

And then you compare that to, I mean, that’s probably in the minimum because they’re small bottles.

And then there’s mid-sized bottles.

And then there’s huge bottles too.

So I bet you the huge bottles will give you a lot more than 250,000 particles, but still, I mean, even just a small bottle with 250,000 particles induced into you in general.

Comparing that to the other ones makes you, I mean, surely you’re going to think like, oh, that’s not too much.

But think about the fact that if you drink bottled water, and that’s not just bottled water, obviously, that’s also like pop or soda, whatever you want to call that, you know, Coca-Cola.

Out of a plastic bottle, those things too, right?

I mean, same story.

But the point is that like, I mean, those kinds of bottles give you particles of microplastics.

And obviously, it doesn’t sound that high, 250,000 particles.

And that’s for a smaller bottle, obviously, must be, it makes sense anyway.

But like, I mean, obviously, if you’re drinking liquid, whether it’s water or Coca Cola or something else, out of these plastic bottles, a lot of the time, a lot of people don’t just drink just one bottle, especially when it comes to water.

And a lot of people drink bottled water, even in myself.

So, I mean, just think of that.

I mean, just because one drinking of water, usually water, but could be other things too.

But, and a lot of people, like I said, it’s a matter of fact.

I mean, a lot of people drink bottled water.

So, I mean, and most people that drink bottled water, don’t just drink one bottle of water a day.

So, like, think of that.

I mean, it adds up for each time you drink out of that bottled water.

Like, each bottle you drink, the more those numbers get.

So, think of it that way too, though.

And I mean, if you’re consuming that, like, maybe three, four times a day, every single day, it adds up on the day to day, adding up too.

But, OK, there’s two other things that actually contribute to microplastic induction into your body.

But I’m going to continue on on that topic in a moment after this quick break.

I’m doing improvements across the board, and soon enough, it’s going to be, like, a lot better, because, I mean, obviously, it’s got dated references.

I’m going to update that too after I finish up on some of the technologies in the back end of it.

But either way, okay, now, continuing on on that topic, other than bottled water, there’s two other things that I have to reference, and one of them is heating up food.

Now, that can give you, like, two to five million particles of microplastics.

And obviously, that’s really bad.

I mean, 250,000 just for one bottled water, like a smaller bottle, probably.

Almost certainly, anyway.

But compare that to two to five million, and you might not be heating food with plastic content every single day.

But I mean, everybody knows that there are food items that actually come in plastic packaging, and it literally says on the package to heat this product in the microwave without even opening it.

So a lot of people do that, or they do it with it like a little bit open, but still a little bit covered so that it helps the heating process.

Yeah, that’s the logic.

Except the problem is that when you do that, you end up getting two to five million micro particles of plastic right into your body.

So I mean, like I said, I mean, with a bottle of water, you’re drinking, if you’re drinking bottled water, you’re probably drinking it every day.

But when it comes to heating food with micro plastic, I mean, with plastic like that, like I just described, odds are, I mean, for most people, you’re probably not doing that every single day.

Maybe you’re doing it once a week, maybe once every two weeks, maybe once a month, maybe once every two months.

I mean, some people do it, I mean, eat food like that a little bit more often than others don’t do it that much and they do it once in a blue moon.

But regardless, whether you do it once a week or you do it once a half a year or once a year, each and every single time you do it, you get like two to five million micro particles of plastic.

I mean, if you’re doing it once every week, then you’re getting a huge amount.

But if you’re doing it once a year, then I guess it’s not as bad.

But still, I mean, that’s two to five million micro particles of micro plastic.

And then there’s the other one.

Oh my God, this one makes that and both of them look pretty bad.

I mean, pretty weak.

And that’s ultra-processed foods.

Now, I was shocked when I read about this, because literally when you eat ultra-processed foods, it’s crazy, because you can get up to billions of micro-

I mean, micro-plastics in that one food item.

I mean, billions, that’s gigantic.

So, I mean, that’s definitely something a lot of people should be avoiding.

I mean, there’s other reasons.

Micro-

I mean, ultra-processed foods, they’ve already had a bad rep up till now.

But hearing this information right here, like micro-processed, I mean, micro-plastics right there, you know that’s definitely not good for you.

And if you’re going to get billions of particles of it from eating ultra-processed foods, well, that means you should really just never touch that stuff, because that’s insane.

Billions.

And some people are probably eating ultra-processed foods like every day.

That means that they’re probably getting like trillions of particles throughout the year.

Like that’s humongous.

That probably will give some people cancer.

And that’s why, actually, that’s why a lot of people have heard that my ultra-processed foods can give you cancer.

This must be one of the reasons why.

So, I mean, if you want to avoid being unhealthy, you should really avoid, especially, ultra-processed foods.

And you should definitely also avoid heating your food with plastic, like in any of the packaging involved with a heating process.

Or even putting your food into tupperware, plastic tupperware.

You know there’s glass tupperware.

It’s the same kind of idea, right?

And then maybe drinking less bottled water.

You could be drinking out of glasses, you know, made out of glass.

Instead of bottled water, you could be drinking tap water.

You could use a glass filter.

I mean, I’m sure you could, if you want to spend a little bit more, you can get that.

I mean, there’s options.

Or you could just drink straight up tap water, especially now with the RFK in America, like fully creating policies that are against fluoride.

And hopefully that translates to the rest of the world starting to follow suit.

Who knows?

I hope so.

But either way, there’s options on the table.

Just keep those things in mind.

I mean, in mind, because obviously microplastics are bad for you.

But OK, to finish off this episode, I’m going to talk about how to finally stick with a fitness habit.

And well, there’s a few things involved with that.

And I’m just going to get on to them before I finish off the episode.

So one of them is that there’s a concept called self-efficacy.

And that, because I mean, I’ll have to say, this is in relation to the fact that, like a lot of people, they try to do a fitness habit, and then they end up realizing that it’s just not working out for them.

And of course, I mean, the whole idea to get into that habit really was a good idea.

But I mean, after the fact, once they realized it, I mean, that they failed at it, and they realized, like, ah, that was a bad attempt, and then they just give up.

So, I mean, a lot of people have that problem, and that’s why such an article actually makes a lot of sense.

With this kind of knowledge, you can actually help yourself, especially in fitness habits, maybe in other ways, too, which I’ll also reference in the next episode.

But either way, to stick to a fitness habit, like, one of the things is self-efficacy.

And that is, like, really all about confidence and also ability to adapt and compromise.

Like, I mean, just having determination, telling yourself that you can do this and, like, really pushing yourself to do it.

And if suddenly something gets, like, in the way and prevents you from getting that fitness target done for the day, like, maybe you didn’t go to the gym today, even though you planned on going to it.

Well, then don’t worry.

Instead of, like, saying, oh, that was a day missed, do it tomorrow.

Like, or do it a few hours later.

Just brush the dirt off your shoulder and just say whatever and just still do it anyway.

Because, like, I mean, as long as you got that determination and that ability to compromise, you could actually get it done.

So that’s an important thing, 100%.

And then another thing that I’m going to mention when it comes to getting yourself to stick to a fitness habit is congratulating yourself over small wins or victories.

Like, I mean, they don’t have to be huge accomplishments.

They could be minor.

Well, still congratulate yourself, because the more that you make yourself feel good over even the small accomplishments, it makes you feel like you’re getting progress done, even though it’s not a lot of progress, it’s just a small amount.

But each little bit, baby steps right there, each little bit adds up.

And eventually one day you’re going to get yourself to a whole new level.

So you just got to keep at it like that.
