Transcript

Welcome to The Electric Current Rundown podcast, episode number 43.

And I’m your host, Phil Defiance, and I’ll always say I’m here to encourage the spread of intriguing knowledge that can spark fires in the minds of those seeking inspiration and truly improving the world.

And what I’m going to be talking about in this episode includes The Best Books of 2025, a preview of my thoughts, a continuation on that topic from the last episode.

And then I’m also going to talk about my proposed directions of AI as it has been going at the start of 2025 and is headed in the wrong direction for the future of humanity, things like brain reading chips and others.

Even similar to that one Tom Cruise movie from around the year 2000.

These kinds of things need to be prevented.

And also I’m going to be talking about PR pros, call fallout of Lively Baldoni’s Saga A Black Guy for the Industry based on an article I read.

So okay, I mean, to continue on where I left off on the topic of The Best Books of 2025, if I preview my thoughts.

I mean, yeah, the thing is like, that article fully was like embracing books about trannies and like gay people.

And like, I mean, like I was saying, like, I mean, that’s a minority of society.

So are they like putting like such a big spotlight, especially on those.

But then again, I mean, at the same time, I mean, that article wasn’t just that it did have some books that seemed to have some interesting stories involved with them.

So I mean, it wasn’t all just like things like that.

But like, I mean, the thing is that like, I mean, the fact that they were showcasing that kind of stuff in particular is just quite odd.

I mean, that’s just related to what I was also talking about in the last episode with the Charisma angle and topic.

I mean, they snuck in politics into that, and then they snuck in politics into this.

Like, I mean, it’s like they’re making everything political.

I mean, like, why does everything gotta be so political in the world these days?

By the same time, I mean, like, there are some books out there that are decent quality, and if you like to read books, and I mean, some of these books might actually be pretty cool or pretty good.

I mean, so, like, yeah, I’m gonna put a link to that article in the description of this episode right here.

So if you want to check it out, maybe you can find a book or two, if you like to read, to read.

And I mean, at the same time, I mean, me personally, I don’t really read books or novels.

And one of the reasons why is because, I mean, like, a lot of them these days, similar to Hollywood movies, like, books written nowadays, a lot of them are, like, kind of strange.

And, like, I mean, the things that I mentioned about transvestites and gays, like, I mean, like, is like what I’m talking about in a way.

But not only that, there’s other things too.

But, like, I mean, OK, at the same time, there obviously still are some decent books being written.

And that’s why I even talked about this in the first place, because I mean, if you personally like to read books, maybe you might find a buck or two or three in this list that you might actually find, like, a good read and you might buy it.

And then you’re going to be like, wow, that’s a good thing that Phil Defiance planned that out to me.

So, I mean, check out the list, check out the link, and maybe you might find some things like that that you might end up liking.

And if you’re not a fan of transvestites or authors that are of that variety, or authors that are gay, or characters that are, then obviously you’re not going to want to read those books.

I mean, I’m not, I mean, if I were reading books, I obviously wouldn’t be reading those.

I mean, I believe in freedom, except for like, I mean, you know, like kid trannies, and promoting LGBT to children.

Like that’s horrible, but I mean, if adults are a part of that, then whatever, go ahead and live your life the way you want.

But I mean, I just, I’m not going to read books on it, or watch movies promoting it.

Like that’s just not my thing at all.

But like, I mean, and if you’re like me, you obviously wouldn’t want to read anything like that either.

But okay, so I’m going to switch topics after this quick break.

So on this quick break, I’m going to say at plainbowl.com.

But okay, so now we’re going to switch topics.

And on this topic, this next topic, I’m going to be talking about, like I mentioned in the start of this episode.

This topic is proposed directions of AI, as it has been going at the start of 2025 and is headed in the wrong direction for the future of humanity.

Things like brain reading chips and others, even similar to that one Tom Cruise movie from around the year 2000.

These kinds of things need to be prevented.

I mean, like that’s just the thing though.

Like, I mean, thinking about AI, like, I mean, the direction that is going, I mean, some things are good.

And you know what?

At the same time, I mean, I’d say that they’re like overhyping it up.

It’s not really as advanced as they claim it is.

But maybe they got some secret AI, like in a laboratory or something.

But like, I mean, generally speaking, the general AI is not really that advanced.

I mean, whenever I wanted to, like, help me, like, whenever I interact with it, I have to ask the same kind of question, like, five times to actually get what I really want out of it.

But so I’m not really impressed too much.

And I don’t think it’ll ever really get as advanced as people think it will.

But at the same time, I mean, there’s different aspects too.

I mean, there’s signs in the professional industry that some companies are going towards a direction of getting their employees to, like, have, like, kinds of technology that monitors their thinking, their thoughts.

I mean, the direction of this kind of thing is going in is definitely not a good one.

I mean, like, next thing you know, like, you remember that movie with Tom Cruise, like, in 2000 or so, where those, like, women, like, it was based on the future, and those women were, like, like, mutants.

They were, like, they used some kind of technology to make them advanced, and they were, like, phantoms.

I mean, not phantoms.

They were, like, psychics.

There you go.

And, like, they were used to predict future crimes, like, sock crimes and things like that.

And, like, I mean, it’s, like, bizarre.

Imagine life being like that.

Well, that’s the direction they’re trying to push us towards.

And, I mean, think about it, too.

I mean, there’s Elon Musk.

I mean, the man is a good man, generally, overall.

But at the same time, I mean, he’s a part of AI too, the AI realm.

And, I mean, he’s proposed, I mean, AI as well as, like, advanced technology in general.

And he’s proposed, or he’s actually working in creating brain chips.

So, like, I mean, he’s even offering that to a degree.

And there’s a small few people out there that actually have done it.

I mean, obviously, not a lot of people, but some.

And, like, I mean, I don’t think that’s a good idea either.

Like, I mean, what are you, what’s the future of humanity?

Are we going to end up as androids?

And, I mean, if a job wants to read your thoughts and things similar to that, I mean, if you’re at a job like that, you should really quit.

Find a new job, get your resume out there, find a next one.

That’s not requiring such a thing.

And that’s how we can prevent this kind of thing.

I mean, anything creepy like this, we shouldn’t be supporting.

Like, if politicians are okay with it, we shouldn’t support them in general.

And, I mean, like, we shouldn’t be supporting companies that are working in technologies like this, especially explicit companies that are doing technology like this.

We shouldn’t be working for companies like this because this is how we shut it down before it gets into something that really could, like really be something that messes up our lives.

And like, I mean, there’s other aspects too.

I mean, AI could end up powering robots that end up killing us one day.

So, I mean, there’s different angles as well.

But, like, I mean, that’s a thing of the future right now.

We’re not really in that, like, situation just yet.

I mean, but either way, I mean, even that could be prevented or, like, downsized from reaching its full potential as being something that’s really horrible.

But, like, I mean, once we get closer to that kind of thing, people will have to think about ways to prevent that or, like, to stop it from getting as bad as it can be.

But, like, I mean, right now, when it comes to things that I was talking about, there’s those kinds of things that I said that can alleviate it and prevent it from getting to where it could be like I was saying.

But, okay, I mean, I’m going to switch topics in a moment, right after this quick break.

And on this break, I’m going to say, we all love good workouts.

Look good wearing a quality gym shirt from playbowl.com.

Your workouts will be less effort since you’ll feel great, leading to less time spent and you’ll see less risks.

You’ll be that guy that everybody wants to befriend.

Yes, if you’re wearing a nice gym shirt from playbowl.com, that’s plane, like airplane, playbowl.com.

But okay, okay.

So to finish off this episode, I’m going to talk about this last topic that I mentioned at the start of the episode, and that is PR Pro’s call fallout of Lively Baldoni Saga, a black eye for the industry.

And that was based on an article I read.

And I mean, it’s based on a lawsuit between this guy and this girl in the Hollywood entertainment industry.

And I mean, I forget which one was which, but one of them was this girl who filed a lawsuit against the guy who was like a director to her.

And it was like based on sexual harassment claims.

I mean, I’m not going to comment on that, because I have no idea about the full story regarding it.

But I mean, I’m just talking about the PR scandal involved, because apparently the PR firm that was working with the director, the male director that had those allegations placed on him, that PR firm went a little bit over the top on his tactics.

They were using a form of tactic called astro…

I mean, it was related to astroturfing, like creating a situation that made people to believe that the allegations that were coming at the female that was placing the lawsuit on him, like allegations from his side were coming from random people, like it was organic, as they would say, in that industry.

And I mean, really, like, the article was a little misleading.

I mean, it was talking about it like as if it was PR, but it’s really like crisis management, which is a specific aspect of PR.

But like, I mean, at the same time, just thinking about it, like, I mean, that’s Hollywood and like, I mean, lawsuits and like, I mean, when lawsuits happen, of course, there’s going to be PR firms involved.

I mean, obviously, they cost a lot of money.

And like, what I mean, this is Hollywood, and Hollywood has a lot of money, so they can throw money away, throw it at a PR firm, especially when this guy is being sued.

Of course, he’s going to do that.

I mean, that’s expected in that industry.

And in this industry is like, like full of drama.

I mean, think about it too, like all the movies are drama, right?

I mean, what is drama anyway?

It’s like acting, really.

So like, I mean, you would expect drama to be happening, and not just in the, like movies and TV shows that they make, but also outside of it, like when it comes to things like allegations and lawsuits, of course, there’s going to be drama involved with the PR angle and the crisis management.

So, I mean, I think that like this controversy surrounding that was a little bit overblown.

I mean, you would expect it to get like that.

I mean, this type of thing must be happening much more often than they’re making it sound.

And like, I mean, at the same time, like, okay, so they were like going on the Internet and making it seem like random people were posting accusations against her, like making her look bad and things like that.

And the article didn’t fully explain what bad things were written about her.

But like, I mean, I think that it’s like over blowing it.

I mean, PR is a business.

Like, I mean, we all live.

I mean, this is a capitalist society.

And if you don’t like capitalism, then move out or something like, I mean, that’s just the way it is.

Like, this is how we live.

This is our system.

So like, I mean, if you’re going to file a lawsuit, you’re making allegations yourself.

So like, I mean, why get so shocked if somebody else is making allegations of you?

I mean, freedom of speech is freedom of speech.

By the same time, I mean, I don’t know about that situation.

And that guy actually might be guilty of sexual harassment of that female actress.

I don’t know that story.

And if that’s the case, then well, I mean, I don’t know.

Like, I mean, I don’t believe in men mistreating women.

So I don’t even know the full story either way.

And what exactly the full allegations are.

But I’ll tell you this much.

I mean, like, PR firms getting a little controversial should be expected and people like making all this, like, hype about how they went, like, over the top on it, using their tactics.

I think that was just a little bit of nonsense because that should be expected in that industry.

And that’s just an example of, like, nonsense that’s going on these days.

So I just want to say that because that’s how I feel about it.

I mean, it’s like overblown hype.

It’s just more drama coming from Hollywood.

And I mean, when it comes to those two people and the allegations, I mean, I have no idea.

But either way, I just want to say all that.

So that’s all I’ll say on it anyway.

OK, so that’s the end of this episode.

Episode number 40.

Well, 44 of The Electric Current Rundown with me, your host, Phil Defiance.

And I’ll always say that I’m here to encourage the spread of intriguing knowledge that can spark fires in the minds of those seeking inspiration and truly improving the world.

And by the way, that’s episode number 43.

I got a lot of things in my mind, not 44.

44 will be the next one.

Anyway, so, OK, well, till next time, have a good one.
