Welcome to The Electric Current Rundown podcast episode number 64.
And I’m your host, Phil Defiance, and I’ll always say I’m here to encourage the spread of intriguing knowledge that can spark fires in the minds of those seeking inspiration and truly improving the world.
And what I’m going to be talking about in this episode includes a continuation of where I left off on the topic of three phrases no one should ever say in a negotiation.
And then I’m going to talk about Elon Musk in general, a few topics about him and his relation these days to President Trump.
Yes, in that whole situation.
And then I’m going to talk about the surprising links between what you eat and how well you sleep.
So, to continue on where I left off on three phrases no one should ever say in a negotiation.
I mean, in the last episode, I gave you an elaboration on the general first one, which was, is it okay if I ask for this or that?
So if you want more details on that, go back to my previous episode and you’ll hear it.
But I’m going to go on to the other two top, I mean, two points.
So, OK, the next point out of the three that you should never say in a negotiation.
And that’s like any type of negotiation, business or other general negotiations you may have with people in your life.
Number two would be, do you think my number is too high?
Or like, I mean, do you think what I’m asking for is too much?
In other words, I mean, you could say it one way or another, generally kind of means the same thing.
And you see what I mean.
And yeah, I mean, if you’re negotiating with somebody, you should never say that.
It makes no sense because it makes you look weak too, similar to the last one.
But for a slightly different reason, I mean, either way, like never act like that number is too high.
Because I mean, if you want to really get like the most out of that negotiation with that person, then you really should be trying to aim for the stars.
Try to aim high.
And you never know because sometimes the person you’re negotiating with may be in a good mood or maybe he’s a or even she is a weak negotiator.
There could be a few factors involved.
And I mean, if you aim for the stars and you ask for something nice and high, then next thing you know, you might even get what you’re looking for.
Or maybe you might be slightly lower than that high number, but a lot higher than you’re like, you know, what you were afraid of.
Maybe I might only get that lower number.
Always aim for the stars and you might actually get that.
So aim for the stars and don’t be like, I mean, don’t say do you think my number is too high?
Because that’s how you’re going to end up losing the negotiation and ending up with this crappier deal.
You’re not going to get as good of a result.
And instead, the person you’re negotiating with will end up playing you for a fool.
So do you want to be played for a fool?
No.
So don’t say that.
Don’t ask do you think my number is too high?
And then the third one, though, out of those three things that you should never say in a negotiation is, I will wait to hear back from you about the next steps.
Yes, that’s a dangerous thing to say at the end of a negotiation.
I mean, okay, yeah, of course, you went through that negotiation.
You did it.
You did a pretty damn good job too.
Or maybe you did an okay job and you’re somewhat satisfied.
Whether you’re somewhat satisfied or you’re very satisfied with the result of the end of that negotiation, don’t just let it to end right there like that.
Like, oh, I’ll wait for you to finish up with the next steps.
Like, usually, I mean, in a negotiation, there’s like a contract signing or like, I mean, there’s an agreement that the other party is going to give you something.
And usually, a lot of the time, that is not immediately.
That’s like an agreement for another day, like tomorrow or a week from now or something like that.
And I mean, if you say, I’ll wait for you to take the next steps, then you’re creating a mistake for your situation.
And I’ll explain why as I finish off on that topic, and then I’m going to switch topics after this quick break, I mean, and finish off on that topic.
And on this break, I’m going to say, at plainbowl.com, we have an expanding catalog of high-quality clothes and consumer goods.

That’s plain, like airplane, plainbowl.com.
But, okay, to finish off on that, yeah, don’t let the person that you’re negotiating with to wait it out.
I mean, don’t tell them that you’ll wait for them for the next steps.
No, instead of, I mean, like even if you, yeah, actually, don’t even say that.
Don’t say it like that.
Instead, I’ll get back to you to make sure that it’s all done.
Like whether it’s paperwork or the thing that was agreed upon, yeah, say that, you’ll get back to them.
Don’t give them the mindset that you’re going to wait patiently for them to finish up on the agreement.
Instead, show them that you’re going to be the one taking initiative because you like that result, whether it’s satisfactory or something really good.
You want that result to be finalized and it’s never final until it’s done, right?
So don’t say, you’ll wait.
Don’t show them that you’ll have patience.
Show them that you’re going to be taking that initiative and then you’re going to actually get that final thing that was agreed upon with no worries or less worries anyways.
That’s really going to help.
So as long as you take all three of those steps, you’re going to ensure that your negotiations are going to turn out better.
Just try them.
I mean, next time that you’re in a negotiation situation, whether you’re a business man or something else that you’re negotiating for.
Okay, now I’m going to switch topics on to Elon Musk in general and his connection these days with President Trump.
Yes.
So, okay.
Well, the thing is that a lot of the, I mean, these days, the news media is saying a lot of bad things in connection to Elon Musk.
I mean, they obviously hate President Trump and anybody that’s connected to President Trump.
And of course, I mean, Elon Musk is a main figure in Trump’s administration, part two, his second term.
And even before he became the president again, during the time that he was in the transition, when he was president elect, like a lot of people were like saying things like, oh, it’s going to be, it’s not going to be President Trump, it’s going to be President Elon, like, I mean, Elon Musk bought the election for Trump.
He invested like a massive amount of money.
So, I mean, of course, that’s their justification.
But it just doesn’t make a lot of sense because President Trump himself is like a boss.
I mean, he’s not going to let nobody to like tell him what to do.
I mean, it doesn’t matter how much money they put into his campaign.
Doesn’t matter.
So, I mean, that’s hilarious.
And I mean, yeah, they were saying it even more often before he became president.
But then, I mean, after he became president, and even today, they’re like giving hints like, oh, it’s Elon Musk, that’s in control.
But then again, I mean, right now in the middle of April, which is when I started recording this, when I’m recording this, at this point, there’s kind of going away from that thing where they were like saying, oh, President Elon or President Musk, really, that’s the man, that’s the president, Trump is just like a secondary figure or something.
They were saying that up till like recently and now suddenly, they’re not really saying that as much because I mean, even Trump just publicly at the time of this recording recently, he said that Elon Musk isn’t going to be in his administration for much longer and he’s going to go back to his businesses, which makes a lot of sense too.
I mean, he’s got businesses to run.
But I mean, why is all this hate going on with Elon Musk anyway?
I mean, is it just related to Donald Trump?
And the fact that he was a big contributor to insuring that Trump won that election?
Well, obviously, that’s a big part of it, but that’s not the only thing because I mean, once Trump became president, what did Trump do?
He put Elon Musk, especially in particular, as the head of what’s known as the Department of Government Efficiency, also known as DOES, and I mean, what did DOES do?
It cut all sorts of spending, all sorts of corrupt spending, and like it’s like ridiculous things, like the US government was wasting tons of money on all sorts of things, like through the USAID program, but not just that, like a few other things, like DOES cut a bunch of like government employees in quite a few government agencies, and he really, I mean, Elon Musk and the department, DOES, because it’s not just Elon Musk, he’s just the head of it, he hired a bunch of really skilled brainiacs, young people, and of course, the mainstream media was also making fun of that, like what are these young people doing, like what do they know about the types of things they’re doing, like the agencies are cutting, like they don’t have the skills to be able to be doing this, like they were saying things like that, which is ridiculous too.
I mean, these people are really smart.
He didn’t pick like dumbos, he picked like highly intelligent people, so like you got to trust their judgment.
And well, I’m going to finish up on that and then switch topics after this quick break.
And on this break, I’m going to say, riding a motorcycle like thunder on a highway is like a dream, gripping handlebars, cool wind, gorgeous views, what life’s about is soul food, look good while doing it, get great motorbike clothing at planebowl.com.
That’s plane like airplane, planebowl.com.
Go there sometime, if not today, then sometime in the soon future, or sometime in a few weeks and buy some stuff.
Help support my operation.
But okay, I mean, to finish off on the topic of Elon Musk, yeah, so him and his team have cut tons of waste.
And I mean, a lot of it was corrupt activities, like US taxpayer money going towards corrupt things and like complete wasteful things.
And they even uncovered like people were like claiming to be 120 years old, 135 years old, people that weren’t even born yet on some of these programs, these government funded programs, getting money, government money.
And so it was ridiculous.
So of course, I mean, it makes a lot of sense to cut all of that.
That’s like that’s extreme corruption and extreme waste.
So it’s beautiful that Elon Musk was doing all that.
And it’s crazy that the mainstream media was trying to act like he’s doing a bad thing.
He’s been doing a lot of good for the US government, for Donald Trump’s administration.
So I love what he’s been doing and his craziness.
I mean, look at what happened like with all the like attacks on the test laws and all that stuff.
I mean, I could talk about that later on on the next episode.
But like, I mean, I’ll just say that I’m impressed with what Elon Musk did.
I mean, he is no wonder too.
I mean, the guy’s a genius.
He started off like really making his first like massive amount of money with PayPal.
Then he got into Tesla and even SpaceX.
And now look at what he did with the US government in just a couple of months.
Like, wow, it’s like beautiful.
This guy’s one of the greatest geniuses of our time.
So it’s beautiful.
And a really good thing that Trump hired him for all these things.
And I mean, it makes a lot of sense because Elon Musk could put a lot of money into his campaign.
It’s like kind of like God put them two together for this experience right here during the first few months of Trump’s presidency.
And I mean, sometimes Trump backtracks.
But according to the news these days, yeah, Elon Musk isn’t going to be there for much longer.
But maybe in the future, he’ll be a continued advisor to Trump.
But I mean, his main capacity in does will only be for a few more weeks, really.
Or a couple more weeks by the time I release this episode.
But I’ll tell you, I’m impressed with what he did.
And I’m impressed that Trump put him there.
It was a really good decision by Trump.
And I don’t care what the mainstream media has to say.
Like, that’s a beautiful thing that they did, really.
But okay, so now I’m going to face off on this episode on this other topic.
And that is The Surprising Links Between What You Eat and How Well You Sleep.
So, I mean, this is based on an article I read.
And the thing is that a lot of people that do late night shifts, they have health issues, like they eat way too much, or they eat junk food, and it’s all connected to a couple factors, including the fact that if you look back at early human history, when people were, like, I mean, in the early days, ancient times, even before that, like, when people were staying up all night, or staying up more than they should be, it was connected to the fact that they were hungry, they were starving, so they were out looking for food because they had to get food, or else they’re going to possibly even die.
So, I mean, and that left a mark on the human species, which continues all the way into today.
So, like, I mean, even when current humans end up staying up all night, their brain is kind of tricked into thinking that, oh, why am I awake?
Well, maybe it’s because I’m starving, or I don’t have enough food, I have to look for more food.
So, then that thing, like, is in the back, like the subconscious part of the brain, and then suddenly, like, you’re eating more than you normally would, and then you actually should, because, I mean, actually, people think that when you’re sleeping, your body is just resting and your body is not really using a lot of energy, and actually, studies have more recently shown that that’s actually not true, and when you’re sleeping, your body is actually very active, like, I mean, your heart’s pumping a lot of blood, and, like, it takes a lot of energy to sleep, even.
So, actually, that makes a lot of sense, too.
When I read that, actually, it made a lot of sense to me, because, I mean, a lot of the time, just think about it from your own self, like, I mean, because I know, because I’m a human being myself, just like you.
Like, sometimes when I’m waking up, I mean, I’m hungry.
Even if I ate, like, a bunch of food the day before, ooh, I’m hungry.
Well, why is that?
It’s because you’re using a lot of energy while you’re sleeping.
Huh, makes sense.
But either way, so that’s what it is.
I mean, so like some people think that, like, oh, you’re eating a little bit more while you’re awake because your body needs the energy.
But it’s actually not really the truth.
It’s actually more so connected to the thing that I was talking about with the connection to early humans.
But also on top of that, I mean, the problem is that later in the night, I mean, what type of foods do you have available?
Well, I mean, if you’re at home though, then yeah, you may have some groceries in the fridge.
But I mean, if you’re working a late night shift at a job, then maybe you brought some food to work.
But I mean, as I said, like a lot of times, people eat a little bit more while they’re staying up.
But then again, there’s also coffee and coffee might be something that may balance that situation now, but everyone’s a little bit different.
But I mean, if you get hungry while doing an all-nighter or you’re staying up more late than you should be, then suddenly you want to eat a chocolate bar or a bag of chips, especially if you’re at work.
And I mean, a chocolate bar is also good because I mean, sometimes you may be drinking coffee, but the coffee might be wearing off and that sugar from a chocolate bar will wake you up.
And that makes a lot of sense too.
I mean, the sugar high, people know about that.
And so like, I mean, if you’re doing late night sifts, then you’re likely eating chocolate bars and junk food just like that.
And also, there’s like vending machines, not just chocolate bars and there’s chips.
Or maybe you got a car and you decide to go to the fast food place, like close by and you’re eating McDonald’s or Burger King.
And you know, that’s not good food.
So either way, I mean, if you’re staying up late, then usually the food that you’re eating in the nighttime, especially if you’re working in the night, is in that good quality.
So there’s like all those links.
So that’s a problem.
Like, I mean, that’s why the title of the article itself was The Surprising Links Between What You Eat and How Well You Sleep.
Because when you’re eating bad foods like that, it actually affects the quality of your sleep.
So I mean, if you’re going to be staying up late and you get hungry, then try to make sure that you’re eating better quality food.
Like, if you’re at work, then there’s probably a fridge there.
Bring like a bigger pre-made meal from your fridge with better quality food than that, like stuff in the vending machine or at the McDonald’s or Burger King.
Like, bring better quality food and then you’ll be eating better.
Or if you’re staying up all night or staying up later than you should at your own house or at a friend’s house, make sure that, like, I mean, if you’re at a friend’s house and maybe make an agreement to eat some of their food and then you’ll pay them back or something.
Or if you’re at your own house, like instead of eating junk food, try to eat better food.
And also when you’re staying up late, try not to eat as much food.
Like, I mean, okay, yeah, eat a reasonable amount.
If you’re getting hungry, then of course eat some food, but like don’t overdo it.
Or else next thing you know, you’re going to become quite a bit overweight.
And that’s a problem.
And all these things are linked together.
And they also obviously have connections to sleep and your quality of sleep.
And that’s where it all ties together.
But okay, so that’s what I had to say on that.
And that’s what I really read in that article in a summarized form and a couple of my own asides.
But either way, okay, that’s the end of this episode, episode number 64 with me, your host Phil Defiance.
And I’ll always say I’m here to encourage this part of intriguing knowledge that can spark fires in the minds of those seeking inspiration and truly improving the world.
And until next time, have a good one.
