Welcome to The Electric Current Rundown podcast, episode number 47.

And I’m your host, Phil Defiance, and I’ll always say I’m here to encourage the spread of intriguing knowledge that can spark fires in the minds of those seeking inspiration and truly improving the world.

And what I’m gonna be talking about in this episode includes book recommendations, done a different way.

I know I talked about something similar in a recent episode, but a little different here.

And then I’m gonna be talking about seven high paying jobs most people don’t want.

So okay, let me get into that topic of book recommendations.

I mean, it’s actually funny too, right?

In the last dozen episodes that I posted, I talked about books a little bit.

I mean, here and there, like each episode, like every other episode, you know?

It’s actually funny.

I’m not even a big reader myself.

This wasn’t even planned.

It’s all coincidental.

I don’t really plan too far ahead in my episodes that I make, but like, I mean, it just happened that way.

It’s actually kind of funny.

But I mean, okay, so like the last time that I talked about books, a few episodes back, I mean, I talked about self-help books, but this time around, I’m going to be talking about something else, like when it comes to books.

And that is like other types of books that I’ve read, and specific books this time.

I mean, last time when it came to self-help books, I was into exactly particular on specifics.

But this time, I’m going to talk about specific books that I’ve read a long time ago, and recommendations.

I mean, you yourself, you could go ahead and read them, if you want to.

I mean, I’m going to give you quick, like, dives into each one of them, like real quick, though, because I don’t got too much time.

But, I mean, if you find it to be interesting, maybe you’re going to end up reading the book, or, I mean, maybe you read the book years ago, and maybe you’re going to be reminded of the book, and you yourself are going to decide, hey, maybe, might as well, I’ll just read the book again, because Phil Defiance told me about it, and reminded me about it.

Or maybe you’re not going to read the book.

That’s fine, too.

I mean, either way, it’ll be kind of entertaining to hear me talk about it.

Either way, because why not, right?

Well, either way.

So, okay, I’m going to start with Robinson Caruso.

It was a book I read when I was, like, 12 years old.

And, like, I was on vacation in Hungary because I’m three quarters German and one quarter Hungarian, and I have grandparents in Hungary.

So, like, I mean, when I was 12, I was in Hungary.

And yes, I mean, I started reading the book before I went to Hungary.

And by the time I got to Hungary, I was still reading the book.

But, like, I mean, okay, so it was an interesting novel.

And, like, I mean, it’s actually funny because I just did an update in my memory of the book.

And I just found out something about it that I probably knew when I was 12.

And I must have forgotten.

But, like, I mean, the thing is that the book wasn’t written, like, anytime recently.

It was written a very, very long time ago in 1719.

Wow, that’s crazy.

But, I mean, the book was about, like, this traveler that was like his name was Robinson Caruso.

And a lot of people that read the book throughout the ages ever since it was written, they actually thought that the book was written by the actual character Robinson Caruso, but actually was written by some guy that had the last name Defoe.

I forget his first name, but Defoe.

Yeah, I’ll just reference him by last name.

But it actually turns out that it was Defoe that wrote it, and it wasn’t Robinson Caruso, but a lot of people actually thought it was Robinson Caruso, the character that wrote the story.

But OK, OK, OK.

I’m going to continue on on that topic in a moment.

After this quick break and on this break, I’m going to say everybody likes really good designs, as well as knowing their online order will come quickly.

Go to plainbold.com to get the designs you desire.

Your order will come quick like you expect.

And while you want quick delivery, you’ll have patience for your order, because when it does come, you’re going to love it, because you’re going to love that clothing you’re going to get from plainbold.com.

That’s plain, like airplane, plainbold.com.

But, okay, okay, so continuing on on that topic.

I mean, yeah, when it comes to Robertson Caruso, like a lot of people throughout the ages actually thought that it was the character that wrote the book, but it was Defoe.

And I mean, either way, the story was about like the travels, like of that era in the 1700s or late 1600s, of a traveler that was like going around like the Caribbean areas with a boat, I mean, a ship basically.

And he ended up getting stranded on an island and his like ship mates ended up dying.

And there was pirates and cannibals.

And like, it was a crazy story.

Like it just sounds like insane really thinking about it.

I mean, and it’s like at the same time too.

I mean, like, if you read the book, then, I mean, like today in 2025 is like going back in time, like as if you went in to a time machine and went into the 1700s or even late 1600s and actually experienced those kinds of experiences.

So it’s actually intriguing in that way too.

That’s why it’s definitely a good book.

And the book that like still is in my memory till this day, like decades after I read the day, the thing.

Yes.

Yes, definitely an intriguing read.

So I mean, if you want to read a book like that, go ahead.

You should check it out.

And okay, okay.

I’m going to talk about a couple others.

It was another one that I had to mention was, I mean, it was Of My Send Men.

And that was also written about a hundred years ago, almost anyway, about a hundred.

Like it was written like 90 years ago, and it was in the times of the Great Depression.

And a lot of people know about that book.

And probably you yourself, whoever you are watching me right now, or listening to me right now, you probably read the book, or at least heard of it.

And, but either way, I mean, that’s a book I had to mention.

I mean, it was another book that was distinct and peculiar.

I mean, it was even that quote, like the best laid plans of men often end up leading, I mean, being led astray.

It’s actually a fact.

It’s like a life lesson.

And that one statement straight from that book, and I mean, it’s connected to the fact that, I mean, you may have plans, but it’s not going to turn out the way that you plan them, but you just got to, like, I mean, just thinking about that thing, like, it’s good to always, like, be ready for those kinds of things.

But I mean, the book itself, though, I mean, it’s like a unique book, like, it’s like from the perspective of about a hundred years ago, 90 years ago, around the Great Depression, like, it like brings you back, like, kind of like Robinson Crusoe, you end up feeling like you end up going through a time machine.

They even made a movie about it.

I mean, if you don’t want to read the book, you can go ahead and watch a movie.

I mean, especially if you never read it or seen the movie, then why not go ahead and at least watch the movie?

Because I’m sure you’ll like it.

It’s pretty cool, definitely.

And so, I mean, check that out when it comes to that movie, or the book itself.

I mean, I’m going to have a little bit more information on that book and even one more or two more as I finish off this episode on Switch Topics as well.

But first, I’m going to go on this quick break.

And on this break, I’m going to say music is essential.

You love to dance, party, sing along with songs, and while doing many things, move and get in that groove.

Prove your love of music with music clothes from plainbowl.com.

That’s Plain, like Airplane, plainbowl.com.

But when it comes to Meissemend, I mean, Meissemend, it was an intriguing story too.

Like, I mean, they were like traveling, and it was like talking about food situations back then, and like I’m traveling on train rides, and like even like working, like, like, because work wasn’t very available.

One of the main characters was kind of psychotic in a way.

He ended up killing Meissemend.

That’s where the Meissemend reference comes from.

He, there was other elements.

He did some psychotic things.

He ended up getting killed at the end.

It was like a crazy story.

It was a unique story.

It was definitely an intriguing story.

So if you’re, if you want to read an intriguing story, or if you read it before, you should check that one out.

Either way, there’s also 1984.

That one’s about like the government taking over and taking away all your freedoms.

It was a future novel.

It’s really enlightening.

Like it provides information of what things could get to if we let the government to really like destroy our freedoms.

And so like, I mean, it’s a good read, like just to give you a glimpse of what could happen if we don’t stand up for our rights.

So I mean, it’s an important read too.

And if you never read it, then read it.

It’s a really good idea to read that one.

Or if you already read it, then maybe you should reread it.

It’s a good read.

And anyone that’s read it definitely knows that.

Definitely.

But OK, there’s also the Bible itself.

I mean, if you’re a Christian, especially, and if you’re not, then I guess that’s not for you.

But I’m a Christian myself.

And so, I mean, you should read more of the Bible.

Get closer to God if you’re a Christian.

It’s a good thing, definitely.

I’ll have to say that.

I had to say that, talking about books.

Because I’m a Christian, and I feel like I’m being immoral to not mention that.

I’ve read 300 pages of the Bible myself, and I’m reading it currently these days with my girlfriend.

But either way, OK, I got to finish off this episode, but I’m going to just give you a quick glimpse into what I’m going to be talking about on the next episode, and I’ll talk about it quickly.

I’ll give a couple of points on the subject.

That is, seven high-paying jobs most people don’t want.

And like, I mean, OK, I mean, some episodes, I get into topics earlier, and then other ones…

I mean, I really got on to that topic of books.

I really got carried away with it.

So I had no choice but to really talk about it for that long.

But either way, I mean, OK, one of them is gastroenterologist.

That’s a job that’s dealing with the colon, you know?

Like, where the feces comes out of the body, you know?

So I mean, yeah, it’s definitely high-paying.

I think it said something like $200,000 or $250,000.

Yeah, I mean, if you want that kind of money, of course.

I mean, it’s something that you could put on your mind as an op-sim.

But I mean, do you really want to work with the colon and all that?

That’s why there’s a huge shortage of doctors in that field.

I mean, OK, like, why not?

I mean, if you if you’re willing to put in that hustle, in that kind of work and make that kind of money, I mean, it’s a good idea, too, because you’re not going to have much competition.

It’s easy to get into because not a lot of people are in that field.

No wonder.

Right.

But like, I mean, hey, if you want to make a lot of money, why not?

I mean, if you want to really, if you don’t mind doing that kind of work, then why not?

Right.

And if you got the time, I mean, of course, getting into the field of doctors takes about like eight, ten years, probably eight.

If you got eight years to spare, then go ahead and go to school to learn to be one.

And next thing you know, you’re going to make him a lot of money doing that kind of thing.

Although, you know, there’s an aspect of the colon and feces.

But then, OK, another one is fishermen in Alaska.

I mean, it’s a highly dangerous job.

It definitely is like you could easily end your life doing that kind of thing.

There’s a lot of demand for it.

But more recently, like it’s not been so high in demand.

But, like, I mean, that’s an option, too.

But you could definitely risk your life doing that kind of thing.

But either way, I’m going to talk more on that topic on my next episode.

And this is the end of this episode, episode 47, with me, your host, Phil Defiance.

And I’ll always say I’m here to encourage the spread of intriguing knowledge that can spark fires in the minds of those seeking inspiration and truly improving the world.

And well, till next time, have a good one.
