Welcome to Electric Current Rundown podcast episode number 45.

And I’m your host Phil Defiance, and I’ll always say I’m here to encourage the spread of intriguing knowledge that can spark fires in the minds of those seeking inspiration and truly improving the world.

And what I’m going to be talking about in this quick five-minute bonus episode includes a continuation of where I left off on the topic from my girlfriend about Bell Bottoms, the history, men versus women, and even how till this day they’re good, but really only on women.

And then I’m also going to be talking about The Story of Charles Winston Peale’s Massive Mastodon based on an article I read.

So, okay, to continue on where I left off on the topic of Bell Bottoms, history about it and all that.

Okay, so like, I mean, yeah.

So, I mean, through the 70s, I mean, everyone, most people anyway, know that Bell Bottoms were like really, I mean, they began in the 1970s.

That’s where it really dates back to.

And back then, they were really, really popular.

I mean, it’s basically synonymous with that decade.

Like that style, like especially when it comes to legwear.

And I mean, by the time it was the 80s, like Bell Bottoms weren’t in fashion anymore.

And I even know that because I was alive in the 80s, obviously, like I said, in the last episode, I wasn’t born yet in the 70s.

But I do recall from my time in my childhood in the 80s, that they were not a thing.

But I mean, obviously, when you see movies, you see Bell Bottoms from the 70s.

I mean, movies from the 70s.

So yeah, there you go.

But then, I mean, there was the 90s.

I mean, by the time it was like around the mid and late 90s, Bell Bottoms made a comeback.

I do remember that too, personally, obviously.

I mean, most people that were alive in the 90s, and a lot of people were, but you know, like, I mean, of course, like people that were born in the year 2000 are like 25 today.

So, I mean, if you’re born after 2000, you wouldn’t know about even the 90s.

But like, I mean, I’ll tell you from experience.

Yes, I mean, the mid to late 90s, the Bell Bottoms had a comeback.

And so, like, I mean, that was a thing.

And then, like, I mean, that was a thing really until like 2003 or 2001, maybe 2002.

But then, again, just like in the 70s, entering into the 80s, like, Bell Bottoms fell off.

Like, nobody was really into them anymore after that point, like 2001, 2002, maybe 2003.

But somewhere around there, like early 2000s, they fell off after they made a comeback in the mid to late 90s like that.

But okay, I’m gonna finish off on that topic and then switch topics to finish off the episode after this quick break.

But okay, during this quick break, I’m gonna say, at planebowl.com, we have an expanding catalog of high quality clothes and consumer goods.

If you want really cool looking clothes or consumer goods at low prices, check us out, go to planebowl.com.

That’s plane, like airplane, planebowl.com.

Check it out and buy something.

Whether it’s soon or maybe in the future, but yeah, I mean, support my whole operation.

But either way, so okay.

Yeah, I mean, after that, like really they fell off.

But then like, I mean, more recently, like around 2020 or 2022, like there’s been a hint of a comeback of the Bell Bottoms.

And like, I mean, you can see, especially like in stores and even online shops that Bell Bottoms have made a little bit of a comeback.

And no wonder, I mean, they are pretty cool, especially on women.

And that’s a fact.

I mean, like I said, this topic came from my girlfriend.

And I’ll have to say, they do look good on her.

So, I mean, I can see why.

I mean, they keep making a comeback as they do.

And right now, there is a little bit of a comeback.

And no wonder.

I mean, they look good on women is true.

They certainly look good on my girlfriend.

So there you go.

That’s the history of Bell Bottoms and my views on it.

And yeah, I am not surprised that they keep making a comeback because they do look good on women.

But either way, I’m going to finish off this episode beginning on a topic about the story of Charles Winston Peale’s massive mastodon, which I’ll continue in the next episode.

But either way, I mean, okay, so like it’s based on this article that I read.

I mean, in the 1800s, like there was this author that was writing about how like in North America, they didn’t have any big creatures and they were basically, I mean, the author was basically making fun of North America, like making North America seem like a place of small little creatures.

And then so like, I mean, when the Society of North America heard about this, especially in America, they were like, hey, what the heck’s going on?

That’s not true.

There’s been big creatures around here.

And at the time, I mean, you know, like it was a part of the expansion westward.

And like, I mean, like the movement into the west part of America wasn’t fully complete yet.

There was large swaths of land that wasn’t fully entered by those settlers and all that.

And of course, I mean, obviously, there was natives living there.

But like, I mean, I’m just talking about, like, the settlers’ history anyway.

But like, I mean, yeah, so like, people amongst those, like settlers, they weren’t really fully aware of what animals were alive and which ones were already extinct.

But they found, like, bones of some animals.

And at that time, they were presuming that they were still a thing that were alive still.

But like, I mean, the point was that they discovered huge bones and huge, I mean, evidence of huge creatures.

And so like, I mean, that’s what they were using as ways to refute such claims about North America having small creatures and not big creatures.

But okay, there’s a little bit more for me to say about that whole topic.

And I’m going to continue on that in the next episode.

And so, this is the end of episode number 45 of The Electric Current Rundown with me, your host Phil Defiance.

And I’ll always say I’m here to encourage this part of intriguing knowledge that sparks fires in the minds of those seeking inspiration and truly improving the world.

And till next time, have a good one.
