Welcome to The Electric Current Rundown podcast episode number 44.
And I’m your host, Phil Defiance, and I’ll always say I’m here to encourage the spread of intriguing knowledge that can spark fires in the minds of those seeking inspiration and truly improving the world.
And what I’m going to be talking about in this episode includes books related in my perspective on self-help books and advice for people who are interested in improving themselves with such books.
And then I’m also going to be talking about a topic from my girlfriend about bell bottoms.
Yes, a history, men versus women, and even how till this day, they’re good, but really mainly well, really only on women.
But okay, also, I mean, okay, so, yeah, to start off the episode about books again, I mean, it’s funny.
Like, I mean, all of a sudden, I’m talking about books every other episode.
I don’t know how it’s like some weird coincidence, but again, on books.
I mean, this time, a different variant on the subject matter of books, but this time it’s about my perspective on self-help books and advice for people who are interested in improving themselves with such books.
And that’s because, I mean, in my life, like, I mean, like, especially after I turned 30, I started reading some self-help books.
And that’s the kind of books that I’m like that I’ve been into myself personally.
I don’t really like novels or fiction or even professional books in general.
I mean, when I learned professional things, I prefer learning by video and the internet, like tutorials.
But when it comes to books, I like self-help books.
I mean, that’s my personal type of thing.
And that’s why I’m talking about this, because, I mean, I have an article on the internet that gives me ideas for topics.
Sometimes I pull out different things.
And one of them this time around was about like a book review.
And so I was thinking like, I mean, what books can I really review?
Well, the only thing I really can talk about is books I’ve read myself.
And I’m not going to get explicit or specific on actual specific books that I read.
But I mean, yes, I mean, I’ll just go on a general tandem about it.
I mean, the fact that I’ve read books that happen to be of the self-help variety.
But okay, so I’m going to talk about that.
I’m going to continue on that.
It’s right after this quick break.
So on this break, I’m going to say at planebold.com, we usually have some sales so you can save money to be like a goose on a plane, on a flight to a great adventure, go to planebold.com.
That’s plane, like airplane, planebold.com.
And when I say goose, I mean, it’s because of the clothing line that I created, I call it plane goose.
But either way, so, okay.
Yeah, check those out.
I mean, buy some stuff.
I mean, even if it’s not today, maybe in the future, but regardless, okay.
So, okay, I’m going to continue on on that topic of self-help books.
Okay, I’ll just have to say, I mean, really just think about it.
Like, I mean, it really helped me.
I mean, just reading some books, like, I mean, these types of things, self-help books, they could really help you.
You should look into them.
Like, I mean, a lot of people really should be doing this kind of thing because it could actually improve them.
I mean, like, I read books on topics like how to be more charismatic, although I already was, but I wanted to upgrade myself a bit.
And then I also read books on, like, learning from your own failures and like how to, like, get better in life based on, like, previous mistakes and failures.
And I read other self-help books, like, on other topics that just, like, helped me in general.
I mean, that’s what a lot of people should be doing.
Like, I mean, you don’t got to read the same books that I’ve read or even the, like, self-help books on those exact same topics.
I mean, everyone’s a little different, and everyone wants to improve on themselves in different ways.
But I’m just telling you, like, I mean, whatever it is that you want to improve about yourself, it doesn’t have to be this or that thing in particular.
But whatever you feel like you want to improve about yourself, like, it’s really a good idea to read self-help books.
And then not just read the book, because it’s like sometimes people, they read stuff and they don’t really take it in.
And then like a year or two later, it’s like as if almost as if they never even read that book.
They only got a little general idea of what they read.
I mean, if you’re going to read a self-help book, don’t do it.
Don’t do it like that.
Don’t take that approach.
Like, I mean, really, you should be like going, like really at an angle of trying to soak the information in and really trying to like get yourself to incorporate the things that you learned in that kind of book.
Because if you really do that, then you could really improve yourself in whichever way that you’re trying to, based on the type of book that you’re reading, that’s of the self help variety.
And then next thing you know, a couple years will pass.
And next thing you know, you’ll look back at yourself before you read that book.
And you’ll be like, wow, like I really have changed myself.
And a lot of it has to do with that one book.
And if you read more than one, then next thing you know, you’re incorporating the concepts from more than one of such books.
And suddenly, you become like a totally improved version of yourself.
And this type of thing can fully like change your life.
Like next thing you know, like you got better job prospects, better job opportunities, maybe better relationships with your friends, your family, your wife, or whatever you want.
Like things of that nature.
And it’s just gonna make your life better.
So like, I mean, you should really look into that.
But if you’re gonna do that, then especially make sure that you soak the information in and really try to incorporate the ideas that you learn in the book.
And then, yeah, I mean, it could be really helpful because I’m telling you, I mean, I did the same thing and like there’s lots of people out there that are doing things like that.
And everyone that’s doing things like this, like basically all of them, all have nothing but good things to say about the approach.
So a lot of people that are listening to this, I really hope you try doing that.
Like at least read one self-help book and see how it turns out.
I mean, on whatever topic that interests you, in whatever way that you feel like you can improve in.
And watch, I bet you any money you’re going to be thanking me in the future, like feeling thankful of me that I put you, that I led you in that direction, because next thing you know, you’re going to end up improving yourself and it’s going to be just, you’re going to love it.
I bet any money, and I dare you to do it.
I dare you, so go and try it.
I hope you do, honestly.
Because why not?
We all should be trying to improve ourselves.
And you, being a part of my audience, well, I hope you especially to improve yourself, because I mean, I appreciate having an audience, because I’m doing this, like, I like doing this.
So like, I mean, if you’re a part of my audience, I want to help you, because you’re helping me too.
So why not help each other?
Anyway, OK, so I’m just going to go off on this quick break, and then switch topics.
So on this break, I’m going to say, music is essential.
You love to dance, party, sing along with songs, and while doing many things, move and get in that groove, prove your love of music.
And I mean, with clothes from planebowl.com.
That’s Plane, like airplane, planebowl.com.
And yeah, OK, so now I’m going to switch topics, and on this last topic of this episode, I’m going to be talking about a topic from my girlfriend about Bell Bottom’s history, men versus women, and even how till this day, they’re good, but really only on women.
So I mean, like just thinking about it, like really Bell Bottom’s got really popular in the 1970s.
And that was like from around 1975 or maybe 1974, something like that.
And throughout that latter part of the 70s decade, like the last six years or so, they were a big thing.
But then suddenly by the end of the decade, like I mean, as the 80s came around, like suddenly they became unpopular, like because things just like rapidly changed as the decades switched from the 70s into the 80s.
I mean, me myself, I was born in the 80s.
I don’t know from personal experience what the 70s was like.
I can only reference what I’ve heard from people that were alive at that time or from movies that I’ve seen that were made in that point in history.
But like, I mean, when it comes to 80s, I do have memories of that because I was born in 83.
So like, I mean, just thinking about like the 80s in general, I don’t recall Bell Bottoms too.
So, I mean, I’m talking about personal experience from my own memories of childhood when it comes to Bell Bottoms in particular.
But yeah, I mean, and like, I mean, anybody that knows a little bit about Bell Bottoms history knows that like, I mean, by the 80s, they were not really popular anymore.
But obviously, I mean, look at the movies from the 70s, like Bell Bottoms were really a big thing in the 70s.
And it’s like something that’s like typical of the 1970s.
And when you think about the 1970s, you think about Bell Bottoms.
That’s one thing that’s like commonly known about the 70s, like amongst like popular culture amongst younger people.
But either way, I got more things to say about that topic, and I’m going to finish off on it during the next episode.
And that’s the end of this episode, episode number 44 of The Electric Current Rundown with me, your host, Phil Defiance.
And I’ll always say I’m here to encourage the spread of intriguing knowledge that can spark fires in the minds of those seeking inspiration and truly improving the world.
And till next time, have a good one.
