Welcome to Electric Current Rundown podcast episode number 39.
And I’m your host, Phil Defiance, and I’ll always say that I’m here to encourage the spread of intriguing knowledge that can spark fires in the minds of those seeking inspiration and truly improving the world.
And what I’m gonna be talking about in this quick five-minute bonus episode includes a continuation of where I left off on the topic from my girlfriend about the Haunted Mansion movie from Disney, the original versus the remake and even modern movies versus the past.
And then I’m gonna talk about could an ancient mega shark still lurk in the Great Blue Seas?
So to continue on on that topic from my girlfriend on the Haunted Mansion Disney movie original versus the remake and even modern movies versus the past.
So like, I mean, think about it.
Like, in this new version, they literally spent about $150 million.
And then going back in time, the one that they made about like 25 years ago, they spent around $30 million.
I mean, it’s insane.
Just thinking about that.
I mean, what are you going to do?
You’re going to blame inflation.
I mean, think about that too.
Like $30 million compared to $150.
That’s a multiple of five.
Five times 30 is 150.
I mean, in the last 25 years, there has been inflation, especially in the last four.
But I mean, think about that.
It definitely did not multiply by five times.
So you can’t blame inflation.
I mean, like maybe it almost doubled.
You could say that.
Or not even double.
It’s like almost double.
But if you want to round up, you could say double.
And that would mean using inflation, if you’re going to use that as an excuse, I mean, double.
30 times two would be 60.
Well, they spent 150.
They multiplied that original amount they spent on the original movie by five.
I mean, that’s not from inflation.
They literally wasted 150 million dollars.
And on the original, I mean, the original was really good.
With Eddie Murphy, I mean, it was a really good movie.
And they spent 30 million dollars to make a really good movie.
And then 25 years later, they make a remake.
And it’s like absolute crap.
Like, they literally wasted their money.
Like, that’s just emblematic of Hollywood these days, too, I would have to say also.
But OK, I’m going to finish off on that topic, and I’m going to switch topics in a moment.
And I’m just going to go on this quick break.
And on this break, I’m going to say, when you make an order from planebowl.com, you’ll have patience for your order, because when it does come, you’re going to have the kind of design you’ll love.
It will make you stand out and people will notice.
And you’ll love that.
Go to planebowl.com.
That’s plane like airplane.
planebowl.com.
But okay, so, I mean, just to finish off on that topic, I mean, it’s just emblematic.
I mean, what I was saying, emblematic of Hollywood these days.
I mean, they aren’t making good movies anymore.
I mean, I remember like 15 years ago, up to then, maybe up to 10 years ago, I still was going to movies pretty frequently, like maybe 12 years ago, really.
Yeah.
And like 20 years ago, I was going to the movie theater, like at least once a week, twice, three times a week.
And I used to watch movies on TV.
It’s because Hollywood was like releasing really good quality stuff, like nonstop.
And some summers, I was like, oh my God, I was exhausted by watching all these movies.
I was like, oh my God, all these movies are really good.
Like the big blockbusters.
But nowadays, they don’t do that.
I mean, okay, once in a while, they actually still do make some good quality stuff.
And that’s true.
But I mean, it’s not like they used to do it.
And this is another, I mean, this is a perfect example.
Look at the original movie, The Haunted Mansion.
I advise you to, too, because it’s actually a good movie.
And since we’re in February, I mean, they do release horror movies this time of year.
So like, I mean, it’s not like a very scary movie, but it’s like a horror genre with a twist, a little bit of comedy and just entertainment.
But why not watch the original?
And take a look, watch the remake for like half an hour.
And then you’re going to be like, oh my gosh.
And they even put like big name actors into the remake, like Owen Wilson and Danny Devito.
And what did they do?
They make garbage.
It doesn’t matter who goes in the movie.
And that’s just Hollywood these days.
I mean, so many movies are just absolute crap.
But okay, so I just want to finish off on this episode with this other topic of could an ancient mega shark still lurk in the great blue seas?
Yeah, it’s called a Megalodon.
And I mean, it’s like apparently a shark from like millions of years ago.
That’s what they say in the scientific community.
Regardless, I mean, they say that it’s been extinct for a long, long time, probably 50 million years ago is when it got extinct.
And so, like, I mean, there’s some people out there that claim that swear, especially that people, I mean, people that go in the seas and go like boating, like sipping, like they’re like working out there in the seas.
And they swear that they think that it still exists and they’re looking for it.
And like, I mean, it’s like an intriguing thing.
Like, imagine they found this thing that’s been, that’s been officially extinct for millions of years.
That would actually be like a crazy finding, right?
I mean, kind of exciting in a way.
But like, I mean, there’s people in the scientific community that say that that’s impossible.
But OK, so I’m going to finish off on that topic on my next episode.
Either way, that’s the end of this episode.
Episode number 39 with me, your host, Phil Defiance.
And I’ll always say that I’m here to encourage the spread of intriguing knowledge that can spark fires in the minds of those seeking inspiration and truly improving the world.
And till next time, have a good one.
