Welcome to The Electric Current Rundown podcast episode number 22.

And I’m your host, Phil Defiance, and I’ll always say, I’m here to encourage the spread of intriguing knowledge that can spark fires in the minds of those seeking inspiration and truly improving the world.

And what I’m going to be talking about on this regularly scheduled Tuesday episode includes my continuation of where I left off on the topic of Florida domed homes that have survived Category 5 hurricanes.

And then, tax money keeps getting wasted, like construction projects, for instance.

And maybe people would have less of an issue with paying taxes if the government wasn’t so wasteful with the money.

And then, are micro-apartments converted from offices the answer to the housing crisis?

So, to continue on where I left off on Florida domed homes that have survived Category 5 hurricanes.

Yeah, when I said that it’s advanced technology, I mean, thinking about it, I mean, it’s a domed home.

It’s not really all that advanced.

I mean, if you think about like a computer with all those microchips or a phone, like all these advanced technologies of that variety, like you think to yourself, like, really a domed home?

Is that really that advanced?

I mean, it’s just so simple, really.

It’s a domed home.

But I mean, the reason why it’s advanced is because it took many years to figure out that a domed home actually could be exactly the type of thing that is needed for having a home that can survive a serious hurricane of that kind.

I mean, a category five, that’s like extreme, obviously.

But, I mean, there’s actual evidence of this.

There’s actual homes that literally survived category five hurricanes with this domed type structure.

I mean, like this one family brought up how their home survived a category five while right next door, the house literally exploded, and they actually stayed home while the category five happened.

But then again, I mean, it’s not just a 100% for sure answer.

I mean, these domed homes are not guaranteed to actually always work, but they definitely are a step in the right direction, especially thinking of how, like, category five hurricanes have been happening here and there.

I mean, hitting land.

And I mean, they say, like, it’s connected to climate change.

I mean, I don’t believe that, but it’s true.

I mean, in the past, there have been category fives to or category fours.

And like, I mean, this isn’t really something new, and it’s not really about climate change.

But the fact is that this type of thing does happen.

And if you live in the Florida area, I mean, it’s always a good idea to, like, have the best protection that you could possibly have.

So, I mean, if you live in that area, maybe you should look into getting a domed home, because these types of homes actually, like, withstand serious hurricanes.

I mean, not just category fives.

I mean, you got to worry about other categories, too, obviously.

I mean, next thing you know, you get struck with a category three.

I mean, that’s a pretty bad hurricane, too, obviously.

So, I mean, having a home that can withstand serious hurricanes, whether it’s a category two, three, four, or five, even a category one is pretty serious.

I mean, it’s always a good idea to have, like, a home that can withstand it to the best extent possible.

But, I mean, these domed homes are not the only option.

There’s also stilted homes.

That’s also another option.

So, I mean, you can look into that, too, which is really a raised home, because, I mean, think about it.

Winds are not the only problem with hurricanes.

The other problem is flooding, obviously.

So, I mean, a raised home is actually a really good idea as well.

So, I mean, look into that.

And maybe one day, these types of companies will start experimenting with raised, like, domed homes.

Next thing you know, that might end up happening.

So, I mean, if you live in those areas, you definitely should be looking into that.

But OK, so, I mean, I’m just going to switch topics right after this quick break.

I mean, that was informative, though, right?

But OK, so on this quick break, I’m going to talk about this.

That’s plain like airplane plainbowl.com.

But OK, so now switching topics, I’m going to be talking about how tax money keeps getting wasted, like construction projects, for instance, and maybe people would have less of an issue with paying taxes if the government wasn’t so wasteful with the money.

I mean, as a matter of fact, especially if you live in a big city like I do, I mean, obviously you heard if you’ve seen my previous episodes or one or two of them, you probably heard me mentioning that I live in the city of Toronto, which is obviously the fourth largest city on the whole continent.

So, I mean, in a big city, you’ll see this all the time, especially in the summer.

Like, they got construction projects is like ridiculous.

I mean, a project, a road construction project that should literally take like maybe a couple of weeks ends up being like a multi-month project, like five months for a project that should only be like two weeks.

It’s like absurd.

Clearly, the construction workers are milking the system and the politicians don’t mind too, because it’s all a government contract.

And I mean, if you think about it, and you compare it to like building construction, like sometimes they’ll build a huge building in just a matter of weeks.

So that just shows you, I mean, why would it take months to work on a road when it takes you, I mean, when it takes these same people, or these same kinds of people, construction workers, I mean.

It takes them literally a few weeks to build a huge building, or a large building.

I mean, it doesn’t make any sense.

Clearly, they’re milking the system so that they can get the most money they can get.

And the politicians don’t care.

They notice the waste.

They’re obviously well aware of it, but they don’t care.

They just throw money at it.

And that’s why, like, expenses are just wasted.

That’s where our tax money goes.

It goes to nothing but waste.

And that’s why people have a problem with taxes.

I mean, if the government was using this money that we’re giving them more wisely, then people would have less of an issue with giving taxes.

I mean, first off, taxes shouldn’t be high.

But second off, I mean, since they are as high as they are, I mean, the government should be spending that money better.

Like, the government should be running this whole thing like a company, because companies are all about efficiency, and everybody knows that.

You always hear that, like, whenever you hear investor reports related to the stock market and companies with their reports on the way that they do business, they’re always worried about having efficiency.

Well, the government should be doing the exact same thing, but instead of trying to be efficient, the government is wasting money, and you see it in construction projects, especially in here, in Toronto.

Like, over here, we got, like, a project that’s been…

They’ve been working on this for, like, 10 years now.

This, like, LRT expansion in Scarborough, this part of Toronto where I live.

I mean, this thing has been taking, like, 10 years almost, or about.

And it’s like, this project should have been done, and they were saying, when they initially proposed the project, that it should take, like, maybe up to four, three, four years, you know?

And here we are six years after that deadline, and they still have not finished it.

And yeah, that also reminds me of another project that they’ve been doing, like, connected to the subway system.

They’ve been, like, upgrading the signals, and they started this project, like, about 15 years ago.

15 years later, boom, they’re not even done.

Every weekend, the subway is, like, fractured, and they have to use, like, connector routes on the bus system as a band-aid fix for it.

I mean, for 15 years, they’re wasting money like crazy, and these are just perfect examples of this kind of thing.

But, I mean, okay, so, I’m just gonna finish off on a topic and then switch to the last topic.

But before I do that, I’m gonna go on this quick break.

So, on this quick break, I’m gonna say, okay, motor mouth motorists don’t motivate like motorcyclists.

At plainbowl.com, we motivate and captivate an aura of dominance, and you’ll have your own era of dominance while wearing one of our motorbike shirts.

But what does that mean to you?

Get one of our great designs, and you’ll look like the king that you are.

And you know you can see that vision of yourself looking and feeling like that with a great shirt like that.

Go to plainbowl.com.

That’s Plain like Airplane.

plainbowl.com.

But yeah, so I mean, it’s just ridiculous.

And there’s city projects like that, that are perfect examples of how the government is wasting money.

And I mean, there’s probably plenty of other examples that can come to your own mind.

I mean, the thing is that the politicians really need to be focusing on efficiency, and then people wouldn’t be complaining about taxes.

It’s just ridiculous.

And if you have access to your politician, go ahead and try to tell them this kind of message, because the more people that are telling their politicians this, maybe they’ll start being responsive to this.

And hopefully, they can become more efficient with our tax money.

But okay, so to finish off the episode, I’m going to talk about the last topic that I mentioned at the start of the episode, and that was our micro apartments converted from office, the answer to the housing crisis.

I mean, because there is a housing crisis.

I mean, there is homelessness.

That’s a big problem happening everywhere across the whole continent, including in my own city and in many other big cities.

And even in smaller cities, I hear that these kinds of problems are happening.

And not just homelessness, there’s also poverty.

And so, I mean, a lot of people that don’t have too much money, or even the homeless, are considering looking at more affordable options.

And so, I mean, there’s companies out there that are doing test projects, like converting office space into micro-apartments.

I mean, this is getting a little bit ridiculous.

So, I mean, especially if you got some money to spend.

Even if it’s, like, not a lot of money, but you’re willing to spend some money.

I mean, you’re not homeless.

You’re in poverty.

But, like, I mean, this is, like, humiliating what these projects are.

I mean, they’re, like, proposing making tiny little houses without even washrooms, without even kitchens, a communal kitchen and communal washrooms in the middle of the floor.

And it’s, like, ridiculously small houses.

Like, it’s insane.

I mean, anybody that’s spending money on that, you’re not getting your money’s worth.

I mean, if you’re in a city where housing is way too expensive, if you’re considering one of these pilot projects, maybe it’s, I mean, I’m telling you, it’s a better idea to move out of the city.

Forget about that city.

Go to a place that’s more affordable, because, I mean, this is humiliating.

It’s dehumanizing.

I mean, this is ridiculous.

And they’re thinking about, like, putting homeless people in these kinds of things, too.

So, I mean, when it comes to the homeless, actually, that’s not a bad idea.

I mean, these people, homeless people, they can’t afford living.

Like, they don’t got the money for renting.

So, okay, fine.

For them, maybe this works.

Maybe this is a good idea.

But for people that want to spend less money, it’s just not a good idea.

And if you’re considering this option, you really should really rethink that, because it’s really dehumanizing.

Do you really want to be spending rent, like, monthly rent on a place where you have a community kitchen and a community washroom situation?

It’s just really not good.

So, I mean, if you’re hearing about this being an option in your city, really just move out of that place, because it’s time to go.

I mean, that city is not a good place to live in.

If that’s all you can afford, just think about that.

I mean, do you want to feel like you’re being dehumanized?

It’s not a good feeling.

It’s not a good reality.

Just move out and find a better place that’s more affordable.

That’s where it really comes down to, because, I mean, it’s crazy.

It’s like this whole system is trying to dehumanize us.

People shouldn’t be letting this happen.

Just think about that.

And if you yourself are doing okay, but you have a friend or a family member that’s considering this option, you should give them this kind of speech, because, I mean, being dehumanized like that is not a good idea.

And the system needs to know that they shouldn’t be treating people like this.

Other than, I guess, when it comes to homeless, I mean, that’s a different story.

But okay, so now, I said everything I wanted to say in this episode, and that’s the end of episode number 22 with your host, Phil Defiance.

And I’ll always say, I’m here to encourage the spread of intriguing knowledge that can spark fires in the minds of those seeking inspiration and truly improving the world.

That’s the end of episode number 22 of The Electric Current Rundown.

Till next time, have a good one.
